Comment:
Avoid at all costs. Tests are several levels above what is taught in class, which is tough enough as it is. Praises the idea of having economic "intuition" but doesn't consider that the amount of difficult material in Micro Theory overwhelms most students. A caring man, but taking a class with him is a major risk.

Really nice professor, but he does not know how to teach. He gives you a lot of partial credit on tests, but the questions originally are very hard to understand. The students doing well had already taken statistics in the past.

Econ Stats is an extremely hard class, but Hagstrom is always there to help you get through it if you are struggling (which you more likely than not will). He makes the dull and dense lectures somewhat interesting and can be absolutely hilarious.

Lectures are obvious information out of the book and are unneccesary. Tests are harder than you'd expect, much harder than material offered in class. Go to office hours.

His lectures are rather dull. If econ is what you want to do, then join his class. If not, then you will have a hard trying to understand all of the concepts. He kind of just throws information at you. HOWEVER, he is always willing to help during office hours.

Great teacher, always available for help and willing to go over something multiple times if needed. Lectures mainly from the book, but all the concepts needed for the test come from book/lecture. Not a super hard class, but he will push you.

Hagstrom is a great guy. He's very nice and friendly and cares about his students. The course is somewhat dull but I think that has a lot to do with the fact that it's a stats course. Hagstrom moves quickly through the material. This class is a lot of work and the tests are tough.

Has a different way of thinking, didn't always agree with him. Sometimes hard to find and not always accessible. When he was around he always helped. Probably the nicest and most understanding professor I've ever met. Be prepared for a lot of work though and don't expect an easy A.

Hard class, hagstrom makes it harder. Material often delevered in a simplistic way in class, then stretched way beyond limits to exams.

Absolutly horrible for anyone with views that are not the same as his. He is moderate and completely closed to liberal arguements. Kind of strange given the topic of the class. He gives "open ended" essay questions but is extremely harsh on views he disagrees with. He makes up his mind about you early on, grades reflect this

The first awful professor I've encountered at this school. Problem sets are completely unrelated to exam and quiz questions, he is difficult to get in touch with and rarely helpful when you finally find him. I would not recommend taking this course with him, it has ended all interest I had in the field of economics.

Great controversial subject. The class lacked enough debate, but I use the info I gained in that class for more arguments than any other. Relevant stuff
