This class was the hardest class I have ever taken. It was a huge challenge for me. Prof. Valleri is a great person and a caring prof. However, his teaching style did not work for me. He only uses a chalkboard, no powerpoints, or whiteboard. Make sure you write down everything he says and beware because he tries to trick his students on exams.

put aside that he is a nice/good guy. he is the worst teacher i have had so far. his class is way too hard. i did everything i could to do well (tutor, lots of studying, going to office hours) but i had to drop because i was doing so bad. will be taking this in the summer but absolutely not with him, i will take it somewhere else

Professor Vallari gave very good lectures but unless you have prior knowledge in the subject the class will be very difficult. He is an extremely charismatic guy but when you are trying to pass that doesn't matter. Pay attention in lecture. Assigned tutors did very little for me. There is a quiz once a week, I never passed on lol, taking it again!

Professor Vallari is a great professor. He knows every students name before the first class and shows genuine concern for everyone. He gives weekly quizzes which are helpful, and 3 exams including the final. The course is very difficult but he is always available for help and there are tutors accessible for any student. Would definitely recommend!

Vallari is a great professor. The class is very challenging and large but he makes sure to leave no student behind and will hold the lecture to answer the question of one student. He learns the names of all 100+ students in one day. He cares and is willing to guide you to appropriate help outside of class if needed. Gives quizzes every week.

I hope that I get to have another professor like Professor Vallari. He is really intelligent, you can tell, but he isn't boring. He tries to make the class interesting with jokes and stories. You can tell he really cares. He knew everyone's name. You definitely need to put in work, but it is possible to succeed. Quizzes every week, but I liked them

I love Prof Vallari! He is a wonderful person and professor. He is really approachable, and I always felt comfortable asking him questions after class or in office hours. He gives weekly quizzes, but they're actually helpful because it makes sure you know the material and that you are keeping up with it. Has a great attitude&stories&loves teaching!

He answers any questions you might have. And its easy to convince him not to teach during recitation. Weekly quizzes are fairly easy if you pay attention in class

Professor Vallari is there to help you whenever you need it but he makes you work for your grade. He always states that if you want to be a nurse, you can't make silly mistakes like you do on quizzes.

I was not a fan of the class. Prof. Vallari, as a person, is wonderful He knows all his students' names & takes the time to talk to them individually before class. However, his lectures were long and confusing. He gave weekly quizzes that had many trick questions about things he didn't talk about. Textbook was pretty useless as well, esp. the CD.

Had no interest in biochemistry before the course and had a very hard time with chemistry in high school. Prof Vallari's lectures were clear as to what the most important concepts were and the weekly quizzes helped to keep all info fresh in your brain. There were three tests and a final in addition to the weekly quizzes.

Vallari is one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are thorough, and he is sure to go over material multiple times to refresh your memory. Didn't use the book very much...his lectures were sufficient for the most part.

W have asked him for help (like a tutor or something) he refuses. Tells us we should take "an active role" in learning by teaching each other. It is kind of hard to teach our fellow students if we have no idea what is going on... He is a nice guy and you can go to him with your problems, but he refuses to help you for class.

Easiness of the class depends on if you are good at math or not. Very clear and very helpful in making sure you know what to know. He's incredibly smart and will know out of a class of 100 everyone's name by the second week. One of the best teachers St. A's has.

Is been 6 years since I graduated and I am now a college professor, myself. Dr. Vallari was a great instructor, mentor and friend. He makes you work and can be tough but you definately learn a lot from him. Microbiology was the best!
