Comment:
Transferred out of the class because he literally made NO SENSE. And the reading never clarified anything because he wrote the dang book! I usually like challenging professors but I never would have been successful with this guy. He mumbles so even if he did make sense you couldn't hear him! Worst professor I've had at UD. Very disappointed.

Comment:
Dr. Wood is incredibly intelligent (though I disagree with his philosophy that being encompasses non-being); however, he knowingly teaches a required class well above the heads of most students in the hopes that a gifted few will profit from it. This theory may work well for upper level phil classes but should not be inflicted on the general public

probably one of the best professors at ud, and one of the best philosophy professors in the south. if you have a genuine desire to learn philosophy he is the person to take.

He really is a class act. A true gentleman, his classes are in depth & thoroughly considered. He can be difficult if you haven't read the books, but it is philosophy. You shouldn't take it if you don't want to read a lot.

It's true, this doctor's not for everyone. He's a total friggen bad ass--but his esoteric vocabulary makes it hard for students to understand him. He's not conceited, as another student wrote; indeed, if that student had read the book (and disciphered it), he would have seen a humble genius doing his best to help his students understand philosophy.

Praise a man who has spent years morphing students into barbarians, taking us back into the ancient cave of non-understanding. Anyone who says oral cavity instead of mouth and uses his book as the basis for his class has a serious ego. On the other hand, he was extremely helpful in my development of Buddhist patience and fixed-point meditation.

A brilliant professor. Despite the other ratings on this site, he is eminently clear to those who do their (very short) reading assignments and listen carefully in class. If you desire to understand your world and your place in it, take this professor: he will teach you to be a philosopher also.

Seems a very intelligent man. But class is so disorganized; jumps from topic to topic without really connecting them. I definitely know that I am not the only one lost in what's going on.
