Comment:
Discussion board heavy for the hybrid eng 102 class. Total of 2 papers that you work over the course of the quarter. Overall, he was chill, in-class you talk about major writing themes and how to write. If you write more in discussion boards, he bumps your whole grade up. He grades papers harshly on writing style and usage of citations

I took HNRS 200, which was titled Strange Fiction. It was really interesting, he had us read a strange story every week and then all you had to do was write 500 words about it (super easy, do it and you get credit) and show up to class to just talk about it for an hour. The discussions were really interesting and it was an easy A.

Stien is a good teacher. Get REALLY ready to read a lot for the fitst few weeks (if taking the hybrid). But after that, the class is easy and chill. Great in-class discussions and very great ending to mandatory english.

Would not recommend for ENGL103. Assigns much more work than other English 103 courses - a self proclaimed fact. Only a couple grades for the term and doesn't explain reasoning for an arbitrary paper grade. A taste for homework level in ONE week: 350 word post, three 100 word responses, reading a whole book, and writing an essay. Avoid.

Absolutely great guy. Everyone I know in my class absolutely loved him. He is hysterically funny, and he will give every student a fair chance to give their opinion, no matter what it is. If you get a chance, take his classes, chances are you will not regret it.

I had Scott for a discussion based class and it was always really fun. He's easy to talk to and good at facilitating an interesting discussion. I looked forward to the class each week. The work was just reading a short story or two each week so I can't gage the level of hardness for an actual english class with him but I like him as a person.

He never stops talking, has a huge ego. Thinks his class is the only one your taking. Assigns massive amounts of work. He had assignments due on Good Friday AND EASTER. This week alone he wanted us to read three stories, write five posts MINIMUM and write a paper. Guess when he told us? Two days before it was due. DO NOT TAKE HIM!

A really fun class. Definitely consider taking it if you're interested in writing humor. The work isn't terrible so long as you enjoy creative writing. Professor Stein does not readily give out A's (in fact, I'm not certain that he did for anyone in the class), but he gives great feedback. Always polite and helpful. Good sense of humor, too.

An entertaining teacher that listens to others opinions and can admit when he's wrong. He makes you work for your grade and is a fair grader.
