Comment:

While her lectures can be a bit slow and full of summary, I really liked this class. The readings were superb and Dr. Choi taught us TONS about experimental design. She's a top-notch researcher (the best in her field). The final project was fun; as we designed our own experiment and presented for the class. Will miss her! I'm sad she's retiring.

I liked her class. She is very organized and her teaching was easy to follow though sometimes it took her a while to find the right words in english. you have the option of doing language fieldwork with bilingual elementary school kids and it was a lot of fun! you can do your final paper based on that and its easier & more interesting i think

what a waste of time! the class isn't that hard if you can force yourself to pay attention, but easily one of the most boring classes I've ever taken. Didn't learn anything new the entire semester. Hard to understand - her English is poor.

As long as you attend the classes and pay attention, you will have no problem doing very well in this class. She posts all of her lecture slides online and tests only the material that is lectured on. She's not a native English speaker so it can take her a little while to get to the point sometimes but she makes the concepts easy to understand.

Don't bother taking this class, she can hardly speak english, her test questions are trick questions. She isn't helpful whatsoever. Don't take this class is my biggest suggestion, find another teacher who can speak english. Ask around a lot of students don't do well in her class.

Don't bother taking notes. It is all in her notes, which she will post on Blackboard. The tests weren't 'easy', but they were 'do-able'. This class is boring, boring, boring. She is very nice, but boring. Bring a crossword puzzle, and sit in the back - but do show up. She cares about attendance. Don't start the term paper too late - it's alot

Hard to understand, repeats herself, and says "um" after every word. If you can stand all that, the class is pretty easy. Her tests are based mostly from her notes, so take good notes, and you should get a good grade.

Decent instuctor. Difficult to understand a lot of the time, so you really need to pay attention. Tests get a little harder each time. Term paper is not too difficult; did it in one day and got an 88, which was higher than the average. Overall, good instructor but hard to understand (Korean accent).

Although the material was interesting, she often seemed disorganized and poorly-informed or simply confused. Lectures were really repetitive and didn't stray from her powerpoint much (which is posted online). I found myself nodding off a lot, and could have done self-study for much of the class.

I had enrolled in Egipto's class and walked into Choi's class hoping it was a mistake, but Egipto was called to teach a different class last minute. I felt doomed; nevertheless I gave Choi a chance. She is a good prof., knows her stuff, hard to spit it out, never wants to be wrong, attendance everyday, gives extra credit, 1 term paper. Ended w/B-.

This class could have been very interesting but not with a Profesor like this, I was falling asleep. The test are easy if you go to class and listen, which can be hard. Also requiers a term paper. Not helpful during office hrs so better hope you understand the material!

I thought Choi was pretty cool. Cross your t's and put the dots over your i's for any writtten word turned in. If it isn't done well she will hand it back to you to do again. (Hey, that's better than an F, right?) I thought she was sorta slinky and sexy so it was easy to attend her classes. She's also very helpful if you go by her office.

She knows her stuff but has no business teaching it. Has trouble explaing her points, contradicts herself over and over again, blames students poor grades on their inability to study and pay attention rather than her terrible teaching. Books in this class cost more than the same class with Egypto(Meyer). AVOID CHOI!!!

Terrible professor. Unclear, vague, hard to understand, not very nice. Tests are tricky, she repremands students for not learning the material when it is really that she just doesn't teach very well. Don't by the book--it is not helpful. Going to class it pointless because you don't get a thing out of it. She puts lecture slides online.

She is very hard to follow, is confuisng and has a thick accent. Very unapproachable and changes her mind alot. Says final is not comprehensive in syllabus, but made it comprehensive anyway. hard to stay awake in that class. She is a nightmare! Don't take her.
