Meh. She is okay, I suppose. She tends to repeat herself often and make connections with the reading that make no sense. She is very sweet though... Every now and then she has her bad days, but if you are good at writing and love to read you should be fine.

She was so hard to work with, and her tests were horrible. I can't believe I got a B because I thought I would have done worse. She hates non-conservitive writing and she gives you readings throughout all the breaks. I'm an english major and hated the class.

Sister Semel is a very nice lady. She's passionate about what she teaches. She goes over a lot of African American writers and their work. You do have to read a lot, you have quizzes almost every week (very easy), and journal entries due every other week or so, but overall very interesting class.

Be prepared to write two to three pages before every class and read a great deal. Other than that, she's amazingly fun and pretty easy going. She's also more than inclined to have you over to her house to discuss anything needing discussing. Great Professor.

Sister Ann is the stand out writing prof for me. She runs a tight ship, but was always available to help with any questions or problems. A truly loving, gifted educator who expects hard work and excellent writing. You will be a better writer/thinker if you take her class.(plus, you will have a much better understanding of history!)

Okay, yes shes very nice, polite and cares deeply for her students. However, I feel that her personal politics and beliefs entered the classroom too often. I pay to be taught the material from class, not hear her thoughts on various subjects. I also feel she discriminated against males in her class (guys know what I mean).

A very brilliant woman with a beautiful spirit. She grades essays harshly, but fairly. Class was a little boring, but she was always warm and friendly. She makes literature easy and fun... good choice for American Lit.
