Steve is great. Take a class with him to meet a real down to earth guy with a great sense of humor. He's going to tell you that you need to learn how to write so be ready for that. I highly reccomend his classes.

Steve is a fun professor, his lectures are amusing. Fun class to go to. He shows a lot of CNN clips about politics. There is a quiz every week about the lecture and the textbook. There are extra credit opportunities if you attend certain events. He is not a lenient grader at all. He is honestly really rude when you ask why you got a certain grade.

He's an interesting guy alright! The exams were often difficult because he'd include such small details that I were overlooking when I studied. It's not terribly hard but you have to stay self disciplined because it's easy to not pay attention in his class since he can be all over the place. It is an entertaining class though haha.

A lot of extra credit opportunities. No electronic devices using during the class. There are only 3 tests. Make sure you attend class to get the note, he will only post the slides before tests in last minute.

Steve is one of the best professors i've had so far. He really knows what he is talking about. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Material isn't hard but if you don't pay attention in class it may be a little difficult. Weekly quizzes that require reading textbook/keeping up with news. Overall interesting and fun class, highly recommend.

Professor Manuel is very knowledgable about the Public Relations field, and that shows a lot during his lectures. Class often goes by pretty slowly, and he has a very strict no-technology rule -- he will call you out if sees you on your phone. Overall, a pretty easy class if you attend class and read the textbook. Pay attention to big news stories!

You have to be able to write a coherent sentence. Care about current events. Go to his office hours. Manuel is a seasoned professor and I am taking him again for COMM371. A retired Marine who worked in PR at the Pentagon, the guy knows his stuff. Lots of extra credit. Just have a conversation with him, he has some killer stories.

I wish I took this class with a different professor but Steve did an good job. He's worked at the Pentagon (which he lets you know at least biweekly), so he has legitimate experience in his field. He requires you to stay on top of current events, so be prepared with your USA Today app and read up on news everyday because it'll be on the quizzes.

Steve isn't the most organized prof, but the class isn't too hard. Yes, his political views may not be in line with a lot of students, but besides that he knows a lot about PR. Tests are tricky and my grade went from an A to A- b/c of the final and he doesn't round up. But all tests and quizzes are on Canvas so it makes it easier.

Without a doubt one of my favorite classes and professors. Steve is so passionate and willing to help students. Go to his office hours, even if you don't have questions or concerns, because just getting to know him and learn even more about the field has helped me more than any other class. Go to class and pay attention and you'll be fine.

From day one, it's obvious that Steve is very passionate about PR and you will learn a lot if you attend class and stay engaged. His exams can be tricky, but if you're serious about the field, you have to suck it up. People complain about his beliefs being too "left wing," but, hey, if you don't like it, you're free to switch majors. Great class.

Comment:
This guy is nauseating if your political views are right leaning to any degree. That absolutely shouldn't be the case in an intro to PR class regardless of where you lean. He plays CNN clips for half the class and tries to play it off like it's educational and not indoctrination. Liberal students probably don't even like him, guy doesn't teach.

This class was very helpful for preparing students for real-world jobs. I find myself thinking back to Steves examples and lectures all the time now that I hold a full-time job. The class is chill and most days Steve just shows news clips. Most of your grade comes down to easy online quizzes and attendance so in my opinion an easy A class.

Despite what anyone's opinions of his teaching methods are, the things that Steve taught me in class have been so useful in my real-world career in communications. He might be tough, but that's so you will be prepared for how tough it is in the industry.

Where do I even start... Look at some point in his life Steve was a PR god. Maybe back in 1995. However, his lectures were last updated in 2006, and he used VERY outdated examples. The structure of the powerpoints is chaotic and very hard to understand. Exams are unfair and filled with stupid questions. On top of all of this he is very annoying.

Steve is by far the best professor I've had throughout my college career. I'm planning on taking another class with him if I can. The tests of heavily weighted on lecture material and he's willing to work with you if you put in the effort. Don't stress so much about the book, but at least skim over it for exams/current event (USA TODAY) quizzes.
