Comment:
Berglund is the best. His lectures are engaging when the material is not. He assigns lots of reading but is manageable if you stay on top of it. He gives an average amount of papers and tests, and if you study they're not too bad. He is super funny in class and is caring as well. He pushes deadlines back if necessary. I'd definitely take him again!

Comment:
Berglund makes ancient history exciting and interesting. There is a lot of reading homework, but it is manageable as long as you stay on top of it. The class is not very hard, but you do have to study if you want to pass. He will proofread your papers and give you feed back if you write it before it is due, so make sure to take advantage of this.

One of the most enthusiastic and engaging professors I have met in several years of college education. I have had three classes with him and loved every one of them. He also chooses great books for us to read.

As far as professors go, they don't get much better for Berglund. I took him for HIST 294. The class material is enough to kill yourself over how boring it is, but he makes it as fun as possible. He's a neat guy. Take him!

This class had unbelievably boring subject material, just the nature of the class, but Berglund did the best he could with what he was given. If you are forced to take this over interim, take it with Berglund.

I took HIST-152 and I thought he was a great prof. He was super engaging and made me really love history. His teaching methods really made it stick with me. It was a lot of work but it was worth it in the end. There were group projects for the reading that often saved me.

One of the best profs at Calvin. I never expected to like a history class and it is one of my favorites. His lectures are very clear and assignments are creative but make you think. You do have to do the reading but the work is manageable. Tests are a little hard but reasonable. If you need your history core TAKE BERGLUND for sure!

Super cool guy and a brilliant teacher. Energetic and engaging lecturer, and he illustrates lessons well with anecdotes and media clips. He teaches a lot of culture in 151 which is fascinating. Really helpful, often hilarious - my favorite professor by far!

He's really enthusiastic and, for the most part, keeps me interested. He also tries really hard to keep things interesting, succeeding most of the time. He's definitely a quality prof, though he expects a lot (could be just because I'm in an honors course). Very nice and helpful in general.

He loves what he's teaching, and he makes it easy for the students to love, too. Classes are never boring and often include some type of media, whether that means clips of Troy or the song "Istanbul." I absolutely loved this class!

This man is amazing. I was in his honors History class and that was the best decision of my life. History's not my major so it was the last history class I will ever take, but he made me wish I could take another history class with him. He was energetic, informative and a snappy dresser.

After four years of boring history teachers, this man made me remember why I love history. I took him as part of the humanities honors cluster, and loved every bit of his class. Be prepared for a lot of notes, but a lot of entertainment as well. He is also wins the title of best-dressed professor on campus, hands down. Take him, you won't be sorry.

Though I'm not a history major, I still strongly recommend him. I'm always looking forward to his class, which can keep me awake no matter how sleepy I'm! But, I admit that he's demanding. His quality definitely worthy it!
