Her musicianship classes are freaking difficult, especially the ear training part. She's great at teaching the subject and gives retakes for all the quizzes if you want to improve your grade. However, she yells at the class a bit too much which made this class even more stressful. You really have to work your butt off if you want to pass.

Very picky about how the work should be done, excessively picky to the most little things. Shows no mercy to the performance of a student, shows annoyance. Feels more like a high school environment where pupils are nagged on their actions as if they are kids not adults who deserve respect. Although, she does know her stuff and explains it well.

Incredibly helpful, she clearly knows what she's talking about. I can see how non-Music majors might find her classes hard, but she's still really clear with instructions and is glad to help people who are struggling in her class.

Professor Nagatini really knows her stuff. I didn't think it was neccessary to buy the textbook because everything she covers in class is exactly what you'll be tested on. She always makes sure you understand the material before the test. I'm really glad I took her. She's an amazing teacher! She's super friendly & helpful! I learned a lot.

You don't need to play an instrument or be able to tell what interval two sounds form. It IS music for non-majors after all. But you will be recognizing notes and building chords, scales, etc. If you're good at soduko and so on, you would hardly have to do the optional homework and still get A's on the exams. But everyone is different.

When I went to East Los Angeles Collge Chie Nagatani would pick on me so much during class, but I didn't mind. She knew how bad I wanted to learn piano. If you don't understand she will play the piano slower for you to understand. She's an amazing piano teacher and makes me want to learn a lot. A decent amount of practice and homework & you'll pass

If you are a slacker, I do not recommend taking any of her classes. She expects you to be a college student, study, and work your ass off, which is good. One of the most effective instructors I have ever had. I actually learned how to play the piano effectively, something that I have been trying to do and been failing at it for the last 12 years
