Once per week seminars are never fun. Nevertheless, Frank makes it objectively less likely that you will fall asleep! Lots of reading; just crank out a couple decent papers you should earn a good grade.

An excellent professor and a great class. Gives great lectures, and taking good notes will prove very helpful for papers and exams. Assigns relatively short readings but extracts the maximum out of each and ties everything together nicely. Highly recommended!

Great professor and his own readings of texts are inspirational. I don't understand the comments here that he is a hard grader, I never experienced that. I took 3 of his courses and never found it extremely difficult to get A's. Show up to class, read the text, be sceptical and make an argument and you will get a good grade.

Dont expect to ever get out early, Frank will talk the whole four hours! which, considering the complex subject matter, can be pretty draining. But he does a great job explaining sophisticated philosophical concepts, and he's passionate about teaching. Not an easy A, but he has a certain charm, and he is sweet and helpful. Go Yanks!

He's a pretty good teacher but good lord, does he like to hear himself talk! Like some other reviewer said, this particular class is much more like a philosophy class than anything else, but i got a B and I never participated, or even spoke for that matter. Anyway, just do the readings and essays and you'll be fine.

He's a stud. May go out on tangents but still gets his points across. He let's you know exactly what he wants. His class is more philosophy than history. He tends to spit a bit and says "uman" instead of "human" and does some weird thing with his hands... but he's still a stud.

I am SO blessed to have had him for a teacher. He was extremely helpful, he taught us more than I learned in four years of high school, he was approachable inside and outside of class, he was genuinely interested in the subject even if it wasn't his favorite, and he is one of those rare and fantastic teachers you'll have few of in your life.

Very good teacher, he makes complex texts a lot clearer. On the down side, he can be repetative and make the same point over and over again in class. But you'll definitely learn something if you take a class with him.

Comment:
Frankly speaking, very hot. He gets very excited about the course material and, when he really loves an idea will tower over a seated student, his hands fluttering over his head as if fueling his train of thought. His proximity to the coast of the desks is a sign of the importance of the topic, and like a wave, he ebbs in and flows out at a seductively soothing yet charged pace. The rhythm of his class is always just right, striking the very primordial chord of intellectual desire. One always wants more.
