This class can prove very difficult if you don't put the work into it. You are graded on 5 items, not including the extra credit, so every assignment counts. You miss one thing, you may be doomed. The professor is awesome, however, and will try to help you in any way possible. This guy knows his history!

Rome Jewish Wars. Nice prof. Lectures interesting but unnecessary, test only from 400 pg book you read or fail. Test is short essay arguments. Vague grading criteria "Thesis sentence, and 3-4 evidence sentences per question, but don't write too much." My thesis & evidence was never specific enough in just 5 sentences to please, so I got "C". Bummer

Prof uses Socratic method, doesn't just tell you answers, no rhetorical questions, you have to suss out correct answers through repeated questioning. Can be work to arrive at correct answer. His Lectures are GREAT, but his test is 5 short ARGUMENTATIVE essay questions, 90% from the book. Wish test was 50% from lecture. Read book or fail, you choose

If you are not interested in military history, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. You'll be bored to tears. However, he gives 3 exams and two are take-home so that's great. LOTS OF READING TOO, reading material will not be taught in class but will be on exams and you have to submit email responses on each one. Attendance is a must, there are no powerpoints.

Class is difficult if you don't attend/don't read the assigned materials. Tests have vague criteria, but if you take good notes, have a solid understanding of the material, and put in the effort, you can get an A. The class was fascinating and he's a great professor, and cares about his students. I'd definitely recommend taking one of his classes!

He is a good professor, knows what he is talking about. However, he gives vague answers but wants specifics on papers.

Doesn't specify and can't explain what he wants, and has an insane amount of reading along with unrealistic expectations for tests. Only 3 tests and the grading criteria for those is incredibly unclear.

Dr. Chet is my favorite professor! I took him for Hist 4261 & he completely changed my view on American history. He can be a tough grader but as long as you put the work in you can make an A, he's very specific about what he's looking for in papers but he'll tell you before hand & gives lots of useful arguments during lectures to use for exams.

He might even come close to breaking you - he'll assign you huge, seemingly impossible reading assignments and stringently demanding essays. But if you apply yourself and do your work, you'll come out with a deeper understanding than you'd probably get in any other classroom. He is challenging, but easily my favorite history professor at UNT.

Prepare yourself mentally... he has a specific model he wants you to follow... ID's(who what where when and why) thesis should be an argument 3 or 4 evidence.. if u master his class.. other history classes will be a breeze... HE HAS A SPECIFIC MODEL HE WANTS U TO FOLLOW.. His class was hard for me... but C,B,A.. most people do better on the final.

He's very smart and makes what is normally a boring and mundane class a little bit more interesting with his interesting takes and ideas on history. He's also pretty hot so it's not hard to pay attention in class.

I took his American Revolution class. He expects you to already know the story, and then spends his class teaching his opinions. Lots of reading. Very particular about his tests, which involve IDs, short essays, and a long essay. Nice guy, but not an easy class

Dr. Chet is a great professor but the tests are mostly one paragraph essays with a clear argument, identification, and suppprting evidence. I'm no good at arguments hence why got a D. Writing level required is graduate. Book does not heavily focus on military history but that's what he focus's on in class.

Dr. Chet is amazing! He explains complicated material very clearly and thorough. Very knowledgeable about his subject. He's very helpful with students, and you can tell that he cares about his students progress. Also an easy grader. I would defiantly take another course with Dr. Chet. Chili pepper material

He tends to go a bit off topic sometimes. His tests are essays, and they're mostly based off his lectures, but he does hold reviews/Q&A sessions to help students out. I didn't read the book and still passed. Just do/study the questions on the review and you'll be good. Not a very hard class.

I didnt miss a class because the content was interesting and you can really miss alot by not going to one class. He manages to key in on the moments of boredom with a quip about the french or the english. Do the reading,i lagged a bit and had to play catch up which was no fun. Show up to class and the exams shouldnt be a problem.

Dr. Chet was awesome! He grew up in Israel and has in depth knowledge of Palestine both in the modern day and throughout the rest of history. I however took his Rome's Jewish Wars class. The textbook was called From the Gracchi to Nero and was four hundred pages, which is small considering it is the only textbook to read. However the key is READ!.

DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!! He states in the first class that he doesn't expect many to stay in the class, that already tells alot! His test are nothing over what he has talked about or what his review was over! Also his class is long & boring & I didnt get much out of his lectures..

Has to be one of the worst professors I have ever taken!!! Hes spends a majority of the class time mumbling about things that have no relation to the tests. Its impossible to stay awake. Mostly everyone in the class has failed his first test including those who have read, attended most SI sessions, and done the reviews. DO NO TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!!
