Comment:
Lectures were confusing, difficult to follow, and contained a lot of extraneous information. The class was graded by only a few things and the tests did not match what was taught in class very well. I ended up teaching myself the majority of the material.

Shea is a bad professor. He was no help at all anytime I went to seek help from him. His lectures are uninformative and not formatted well. He doesn't care about your grade. I was doing all of my work and studied a ton. He did absolutely nothing to help me and my grade. 10/10 I don't recommend any of his math classes if you care about your grade

Intermediate Algebra isn't easy, but Mr. Shea is very helpful in person. I only ever emailed him once, but he did not respond back via email. I did see him later in class that evening and he apologized for not getting back to me via email. I would take him again for sure.

I had to retake MAT1033 because I originally took the class when I did not care about my education. Shea takes the time to explain things after class if need be and even offers to stay after to help at the end of each lecture. He was teaching several courses back to back this semester and even at the end of the day, he was helpful and caring.

Horrible teacher. I am already bad at math but he doesn't take time to explain it to you after class. Towards the end of the class I was a couple points away from passing and asked for any extra credit and he magically started ignoring my emails. 10/10 would not recommend!

Mr. Shea's very intelligent, definitely cares and is helpful. He hadn't taught Calc3 in 10yrs. But his style wasn't a fit for me. He elaborated on the algebra. He overcomplicated a lot of things and gave a few examples. Few reviews were very helpful. Would've learned better if he taught formulas and did examples. Had to teach myself a lot.

He speaks very quickly. It is very difficult to keep up. For students like myself who are not strong test takers, but who are solid homework and quiz people this was a nearly impossible class to pass. The tests are worth 75% of your grade leaving 15% for quizzes and 10% FOR HOMEWORK. I probably could have done better if the quizzes were worth more

He explains everything very well and in a way to grab the concept. There is work to be done, but its math. You have to put time and effort into it.

Well I mean he was a nice professor and knows his stuff, but he was easily distracted and spent a good amount of time going over something than end it with 'But that's not important you don't need to know that.' Very understanding and tries to help you with any questions you have, just really goofy. Otherwise class was pretty easy

He is not the best math teacher. He knows his material but has trouble teaching it to students. He gets easily distracted and even though you may not need to know something he will teach it to you anyways and make you confused. He is the most confusing teacher I have had in math. His tests are nothing like the quizzes and homework.

Total goofball. Taunt many things clearly and concisely. Threw in a lot of dumb "dad jokes" with the lectures, kept things interesting. Pretty lenient on test grading. So far, he's been my favorite math instructor. Great for answering questions, clarifying topics.

He was a great teacher! You just gotta make sure to do all of the online work on time! And take as many practice tests as you can. Would take another class by him.

Not so great at lectures, just because he tends to ramble and jump around a lot, but he's very fair with the grading and more than willing to help out when you're struggling.

I would definitely take another class with him! He is easy going, funny, and has a great way of explaining things. I am terrible at math, but he really helped me to understand it better. Furthermore, he truly cares about his students and has sympathy for students who struggle with math.

Mr. Shea gives great lectures. I failed this course the first time with another instructor, but with Shea everything seemed so easy to understand. Also, about four other people were retaking the course like I was and did exceedingly well. I highly recommend him!!! I could not have asked for a better instructor.

Willing to let you make up your work. Tests are the life of your grade with it being 60 percent of the weight. Homework is a must do but its really easy to learn on your own.

He's another example of an average teacher with a poor system in place for the class. Where you can't get any meaningful work anything done in class, but if you don't go to class you won't understand the material. Also the tests are ridiculously hard.
