Ms. Shade was one of my favorite professors. She was very passionate about the subject and was always available to help. The most important advice I would give is to participate in class discussions.

Honestly one of the worst professors I have ever had, clear favoritism towards people like her (not trying to be mean but it's the truth) completely unreasonable grader to everyone besides her favorites. Also brings up her personal life way to often. Do not take any class with this professor

12 chapter responses(prepare to write 12 short essays), so many papers, group projects, pop quizzes, extremely tough grader. Be prepared to do your very best and still only pass with a semi-satisfactory, mediocre grade. I followed rubrics, asked questions, and was very involved in class. She's a nice person, but a demanding and critical professor.

As a 4.0 honors student, please take my advice- DO NOT take this prof. She is a tough grader, very nit-picky, & hard to please. I always participated in class discussions, was early, & only missed 3-4 classes(Dr.'s note for 2) she still gave me 19 out of 20 points for participation. This happened w/ most assignments, those points add up.

Always show up to class because there will be 5 pop quizzes. Has a dark sense of humor, but is very down to earth. Loves Minecraft. Easy grader if you follow directions and if you are good at talking and writing. Tends to favor people who have similar interests/views as her. You can literally slide in her DMs and she will respond right away.

She gives her opinions a lot and talks A LOT about her divorce. Makes somewhat funny jokes. Does lots of Kahoots. Group projects, presentations and papers are often. She gives 3-5 pop quizzes, and they aren't easy. You have to pay attention during her lecture, though its difficult. Stuff not in books are on tests as well. Wouldn't really recommend.

Very tough grader or speeches. Hard to get an A. You have to give a perfect speech to get a A. Need perfect sources for papers too. Very emotional teacher. Very nice but hard grader. Some stuff we do in the class is fun but most of it was stupid. Really had to work hard to get a decent grade.

Julia is an awesome prof! She really connects with her students. She's a tough grader on speeches. Also tends to rant. Has pop quizzes, but they're short and simple if you do the readings and pay attention in class. I used a voice recorder during classes, which really helped me for the final. Speeches: just do EXACTLY what's required and easy A

Julia is great! One of the best professors at NCC. Class is pretty easy, she is a fair grader and very wiling to help if you need it. Make sure you read the assigned textbook chapters, they will be on the final! The final is easy if you study, but impossible if you haven't done the reading.

She's a pretty good speech teacher she definitely knows what she's talking about. She is somewhat a hard grader as long as you keep up with the work you'll be fine. She's also hilarious and if you like video games you'll have one up on everyone else.

Her personality is funny and will make you laugh during her class, very helpful and nice. But she's HORRIBLY tough. More speeches and papers than any other speech class, at one point we had four assignments working at once.

She was one of the best teachers I've ever had. She's quirky and very funny, expect to be doing a lot of work (there are a variety of group projects you will find yourself in). She encourages the students to mingle and is compassionate. Don't be late or skip her class, as she won't tolerate it. Highly recommend.

Great professor, very laid back and gives good feedback. Speeches aren't horrible. She lets you hand in outline as many ties to get a better grade. would take again, Awesome professor.
