She's definitely a very caring professor, but know that the assignments can be very tough, as she expects a lot from her students. Though, I did become a better writer because of her. Keep in mind this is not an easy A class at all, so be prepared to do your work.

Professor McGlynn is one of the most caring professors has taught me. It's obvious she loves what she does. She pushes her students to the limits to allow students to reach their potential and more. Take her if you genuinely plan to become a better writer. And definitely take advantage of her meeting, they are informative and helpful.

I've taken her more than once bc she's so great! She can be a tough grader sometimes, but it's for your own benefit and she'll help you become a better writer and she'll help pull out the ideas you have that you can't quite get to. Show up to class, participate, and take notes! Notes will really help you write your papers.

There's a lot of readings. She's a fun person to talk to but serious business when it comes to grading you. Puts a lot of time into making sure your thesis arguments are solid. Midterm and final follow the same format.

I took Professor McGlynn last semester and really enjoyed her class. If you're looking for an easy A English class, this is not for you. She will expect a lot from you but she will make you a better writer and prepare you for grad school level writing/literature analysis. Make sure she knows your by name and sees your individual effort. Recommended

I really respect her as a professor as she truly cares about her students and takes an interest in their lives (non-intrusively of course) and is passionate about her profession (which is rare in itself!). She added great insight to even not so interesting texts and I would love to take a class with her if I was more interested in the subject/genre

Class is kinda theatrical. No one does the readings or when they do theres very little insight so how good the class is really depends on who you take the class with. Hopefully no know it alls in your class that literally dont let the poor professor speak. Shes a tough grader and theres a lot of reading. Wish there was deeper analysis on text tho

I had her for my first semester at Baruch. Had 3 papers (reflective narrative, critical rhetorical analysis, research) and an oral history remix as a collaboration with the HIS 1500 professor. She allocates ample time for each due date and maps out what you should answer for each prompt. Don't be late. Always have your assignments ready. Loved her.

AMAZING. Love this woman. I didn't have a textbook for this class, so obviously it wasn't used. Had an average amount of papers, and she was definitely a bit tough on the grading but you will definitely learn a lot from her if you pay attention and take her comments as constructive criticism. 10/10 would recommend.

Professor Mary McGlynn is very passionate about what she teaches. She's very bubbly. Do your work and she's going to like you. If you don't do your work, you might as well not take her. She respects you if you follow her directions and do your work. Very picky on grading essays, however, she is clear on what she wants. Her office is always open!

Great Professor, she makes you do a lot of reading. I only did half the reading and I got a decent grade in the class. If your penmanship is weak she is the professor you should consider taking. She makes you work for your grade and you will learn to appreciate her more because of that.

If you take McGlynn get ready to do A LOT of reading (about 8 books and 3 short stories for one semester). She is the hardest grader but it only makes you appreciate your grade even more. I got a C- in her class but she made me a stronger writer so I appreciate her for that. She gives great feed back on essays and she gives you a chance to revise.

She's a really tough grader, she gives amazing lec .The work is all worth it at the end. Lots of reading, Tons of reading for each class. Participation counts! One presentation, 3 essays ranging from 3-5 pages and 2 one page responses. Not much work, but tons of effort. You have to work for your grade! She's a sweet heart other than that, Enjoy!

I would have gotten an higher grade if I participated more, but she talks so fast that it is so hard to keep up with her to the point where you just want to zone out her voice. She is a really nice and funny woman, but she is a tough grader. Do not take her for granted. She gives really great feedback on her papers though!

One of the best English professors at Baruch: she's passionate about what she teaches, and cares about her students. She may not be clear with what she expects on the first paper, but she offers rewrites and clears up a lot in meetings. You get what you put into her class and there's a lot of reading, but she's a fair grader and class is hilarious.

Took her for 3 different classes. One of the best profs in Baruch. Very passionate about the arts and very nice person in general. Down to earth and jokes around in class. Very willing to help you out, allows you to send drafts before due date for help and gives a re-write for each essay. Her film class was great, fair grader, def take her.

One of the best english profs at Baruch. I've taken 4 classes with her and she's made each one unique and interesting. Be ready to put in some serious work time, and show up to class. Definitely looking forward to taking another class with her. She is 100% willing to give up her time to help you!

She gives easy readings and 1 page papers and guides you through the work easily. She is a very enthusiastic woman, but it gets annoying after a while. Fairy tales, Shakespeare, and poems. Final is given on the computer which makes it so much easier to edit after writing. Memorize a stanza from a poem for extra credit.
