Professor Ahkavan is amazing! I took his Bio 2 (Microbiology) class in the winter and this class is without a doubt very hard. You MUST show up every lab and lecture in order to pass. Ahkavan is serious at times but very easy to approach, he is always available during office hour to clarify any confusion. Very knowledgeable professor! :)

Comment:

Ahkavan is a great biology professor!(took 1A & 1B) Keep in mind this is a college science class, you will have to study to do well. I think he is very reasonable with the amount of chances to get an A. Your grade is not just dependent soley on exams, you can still earn a good grade if you stay on top of the other opportunities offered for points!

There is nothing wrong really, Its just a long boring class with unnecessary labs. His lectures are pointless as well since he forces you to read the chapter ahead of time and turn in daily assignments based on the reading. Nice guy, but very boring.

the class seemed interesting online but the classroom experiance is at times dry and boring. he definitly knows what he is talking about but at times its hard to keep up with where he is going with the lesson.

Great professor! I really enjoyed his class. Lots of material covered but 5 exams are given to break up the info. Exams are multiple choice with 3 or 4 essay Q's. Presentation is required. He is a very helpful, reasonable, and friendly guy that cares about his students success. He will prepare you for the next step in Bio, not a walk in the park.

Mr. Akavan is hilarious! As he always says he is not a physician! ha ha... Test and quizzes are difficult. I am not a nursing major and I received a B. It took alot of dedication and reading for me to pass the class. He is a very laid back teacher who does give lots of xtra crdt points. If I can pass anyone can do it! As long as you work hard at it

Ahkavan was great! You need to attend to get everything he is talking about, he always talks about how students need to get it together, but I hardly read his book and got an A He also gave a 25 extra credit activity to volunteer at Bolsa Chica, and it was fun! Has a lot of homework, but it helps your grade out a lot Your could dohmk 5 min b4 class

Ok,yes its a hard class, its bio for science majors!!Expect a challenge!! Textbook is highly-extremely-strongly recommended! people complain because tests are too hard, its cuz they don't even read!! READ & do ALL the chapter quizzes 7 u will pass! talk to him too! not to just be a teachers pet but so he can write you a letter of recommendation

I took Bio25 FALL07 with Ahkavan .You will do fairly OK if you turn in all journals, but his test and quizzes are very difficult. The class can be somewhat interesting but yet again lots of information and he has a lame sense of humor.

very nice teacher. i think he felt like he should reward the 7 students remaining in his class so there were a lot of extra credit and some exams didnt have essays (1 exam only had 1 essay instead of the usual 4-6) which was pretty cool. u can get a lot of advice from the prof. :)

It's a class where you basically teach yourself. Going to class is like a waste of time because 75% of the time, his accent is horrid. I don't hate the guy, he's a nice guy. In my opinion, he just needs to work on his teaching skills because it feels like he doesn't want to be there due to his mumbling.

HE IS THE BEST! read ur book or CD-ROM, it helps, do ur articles it helps w/final grade. if u fall back he will give ex/c. u learn so much in this class. he is funny, and gives great advise,so take it. Those who want everyting easy never succeed in the real world, so stop being lazy. I was sad when it ended. Mr. Ahkavan U R doing a great job!

Great teacher! You can ask him anything though u have to work for ur grade. gives good advice too and u can pretty much talk w/ friends througout the whole lab period (provided ure not too noisy) :P

I took this class twice.. obviously it was much easier the second time, but still i could see how many people would do bad even a second time... the amount of information in ridiculous , this class does nothing to prepare you for a university transfer.. mainly because you dont learn anything

I took this class because I could not do the discetion in the other Bio classes. This guy is very helpful, if you ask for it. His accent is not bad, anyone who says so is not prepared to deal with the real world. I liked him; I never cracked the book or read the study guied and easily got a C, based on lecture.
