This professor only reads from the powerpoints and feels like he is convincing himself how to do the material. During the online covid19, we covered all the materials in the syllabus so he added more presentations and homeworks. Seems like he cares more in assigning homeworks than his students actaully learning. The exams are hard. Cumulative final

First class I truly hated. This professor is clueless and only reads from the powerpoints. He makes you buy an $100 book just to get the homework problems from it. Exams are hard. He thinks everyone is an i.s.e. He just informed us that the final was cumulative. Surprise!

Super cool professor, the class itself was eh. Open book and note exams which was nice. He teaches a bit differently than the book which was kind of annoying but Van Til is always willing to help one on one.

I hated every minute of his class, lecture was very boring. Van til is a nice person but the course material itself is as boring as it gets. Didn't study and brought the textbook to the exams and still passed.

Van Til is the man! He made egr 260 and nearly convinced me to switch to use (I am ee). He is always willing to help and is very knowledgeable of the material. I would take van til for any class!

Definitely the most insightful professor I've come in contact with at Oakland so far. Professor Van Til is dedicated to the ISE program and is helpful in and out of the classroom. Material was straight forward. Look forward to taking ISE 484 with him in winter.

Okay I am an ME and this class was very hard. I did great in calc and diffy q and this class is supposedly a "math class" which sucks. He writes the problems from exams a few days before it. Good luck trying to study. we can bring anything we want to the exam(books, notes). Very tough and now i know why i am an ME.

Professor Van Til is fantastic. He is good at what he does and has a great personality. He provides incomplete lecture notes before class, which is a great note-taking/studying resource. Tests are open book/note. He makes you think, but they aren't too bad if you've done the homework and studied a bit. I would definitely recommend Van Til.

Totally useless. Talks the talk but in the end, just another useless academic. Will not provide any valuable insight into anything (probably because he has none). Do not recommend taking him. In fact, do not attend Oakland University for Engineering (useless profs). Go to Wayne State, Kettering, LTU or MTU if you're in Michigan.

Notes and probs. in class are easy to follow and easy to execute, but they don't help you on any test b.c they r probs. you will never have seen. Final is impossible. Labs r fun and easier. Must do all hw and be in class for probs that will help will the hw.

Van Til is the best professor for this subject. He always knows what he's talking about, he's always in a good mood and he's always available for help. Tests are open book/notes otherwise they would be impossible, do all homework it helps a ton. Labs are simple and boring but worth 25% of your grade so easy points!

Best teacher available for this subject. Only other option was Wagner and he was terrible. If you go to class and do homework you will do fine. He makes exams to get back a 75% average, and he was on the money all 3 times. Keeping this in mind the exams are open book and open notes and still have a 75% average. The Final was very difficult Take Him

Labs are extremely easy and still worth 25% of the grade. His tests are very difficult but he does give lots of partial credit, and are open book/note (otherwise they would be downright impossible). Doing the homework will help, but the test problems are much more difficult.

His tests are fairly difficult but he gives lots of partial credit, on top of allowing you to use notes/book on them.. Labs are extremely easy and still worth 25% of the grade. I will say that doing the homework (even the ones he doesn't collect) is worth it. He sometimes mumbles.. But all the lecture slides are posted so it doesn't matter...

"Overall he's a nice guy, but his class needs some improvements. You can study for days and get the same grade as if you do nothing." I hear ya. just make sure to know the notes, then BS the test. he gives fair amounts of partial credit. His tests are the 2nd hardest thing in the world... right behind understanding OU math professors.

This guy rocks, his tests are for real engineers, what more then open book do you want, you are lucky teachers do that in USA, go to other country, you cry, becoz U have to memorize constants and formulas. if you go to his class, do homework you should get a 4.0 in his class, unless you are not an average person. Vantil is one of rare great prof
