Comment:

Sachs is the chair of the Chem department, so she's earned respect as a professor. Organic is tough, but she teaches at a grad level to make it tougher. Not the best if you're uninterested and taking it for a requirement. Take Reeve if you have the option.

Comment:

Decent lecturer, Sachs can explain material in a clear way. Likes to use multi-step problems on exams that require you to synthesize knowledge vs. just mechanisms mechanisms, so you're forced to really know the material at a deeper level. Doesn't have much grace on assignments or academic misunderstandings, which can screw you.

Comment:

Dr. Sachs is a good prof, clear in her lectures and available in her office. The only thing is that her tests are often much more difficult than the hw problems, and also will have much more theory than other Chem profs' exams. She's a pretty nitpicky grader (in lab as well). Be ready to work your butt off to do well.

Excellent teacher! Dr. Sachs is approachable and always ready to help outside of class. Tough class (I mean it is Organic Chemistry). Just make sure you do the given problems in the text book to study for the weekly quizzes and the exams.

Obviously organic is a difficult subject for many and she expects the student to take an active role in learning the material; however students who put forth effort normally succeeded with ease. She tests on material covered in lecture without giving ridiculously difficult questions. take her if you can

Dr. Sachs is one of THE BEST professors you could hope for for organic chem. She is thorough, clear and has high standards for her students. As long as you attend lecture and keep up with the homework Dr. Sachs WILL help you get through this class and even make it fun.

People, ochem is really difficult, but you can't blame the prof. Sachs does an excellent job teaching and is very organized. Having Reeve and Sachs I preferred Reeve's style, but Sachs is great. Will stop to answer questions and makes a lot of ties to previous material. She can be picky on tests, but she is fair.

O Chem is not meant to be easy. It will probably take more studying than most other science classes you had before. She is always fair, approachable, and passionate. If you want extra credit - the Messiah Chem dept is not for you.

she tries to be nice and seems to be pretty dedicated. she wants u to do everything her way. some of her test questions are unclear and she will cut massive points if it is not done her way. her teaching is not so bad. she writes notes for u and all u have to do is copy.
