Allen is very passionate about the subject: English. I found him to be funny, bright, and straight up. He does have a high level of expectations, so if you are not on top of your game I wouldn't recommend. However, if you are up for the challenge you walk out a great writer.

Comment:

A wicked distant relative of Woody Allen, Professor Shulakoff is a fine teacher. The asinine stuff about him being "rude" is ludicrous, unless of course you haven't done the work. One book for this course--if you did the reading assignments, you're fine for the unbelievably simple quizzes. Sourly funny and a muttering genius.

I think he was funny. He is very fair and far from rude. I think it is funny that people thought this about him. Those people are the ones texting during class, no-showing, showing late, or just really don't know how to critically think. (YES he does go on tangents but he wants you to think think think!) He has a dry humor I find funny!

As the other reviews indicate: he is extremely rude,always rambles off topic,pushes his views on you,won't let you have a voice or opinion,puts students down,always has trick questions on tests. never get out early, doesn't allow you to use restroom. unorganized. outdated. worst teacher i've had.

Mr. Shulakoff is a horrendous teacher. Besides is rude, offensive and abrasive personality his homework assignments and classwork was completely useless. It seemed to me as if he did not put any effort into teaching the class and yet expected so much. He was very unclear and often wondered off topic. By far the worst teacher i have had at DVC

Mr.Shulakoff is very rude to his students.He makes you feel very uneasy.He will give you put downs too,in front of everyone if you do not understand what he was teaching.Futhermore he moves at a very fast speed.
