Had to bail out of this one. Expectations high, but prof is too limp and unimpressive but also was so formal and rigid in her thinking. She's super kind, almost syrupy, but this is a no no when mixed with her lack of original thinking- It made it hard for me to listen to her or learn from her.

At times this was a decent class. The information was interesting, but she acted a lot like a grade school teacher. Needs to cast more authority in the classroom, and also more confidence. BE PROFESSORIAL! Lack of confidence hurts her presentation. We LIKE a little arrogance. Will get better, I believe.

Great professor..one of my favorite at Amherst. Very interesting and engaging, friendly. leads good discussions and gets to the heart of the reading without getting bogged down with unneccessary details. Lets interest of students dictate the discussion. not a very hard grader

Best Professor ever!!!!! I love Basler, everyone should have a class with her, i tool her twice in a row, for Amst 12 The City: New York and Soc 31 White Identity. Amazing! She's really fun, and laid back, and doesn't like to lecture so class is engaging.

At first I was a little apprehensive about her class because she wasn't knowledgeable about the course on New York City. But you eventually warm up to her and realise she is human and can't bullshit for the life of her. Very charismatic and fun.
