Comment:
I highly recommend not taking any class taught by this professor. She knows a lot about the material and probably would have been a good teacher in her prime, but now she is extremely unorganized, can't work even the simplest of technology, and her handwriting is unreadable. She's a nice person, but definitely should no longer be teaching.

this was the most disorgangnized class I have EVER been in. I would rate a 2/10 bc nobody EVER knows what is going on in this class. She does NOT give clear criteria or instructions for the assignments, most of the time you'll walk in and have a paper due, and nobody had even heard of the assignment. DONT TAKE ITS FRUSTRATING TO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO

Conway is one of those professors that are only here because of tenure. She expects you to go to these banjo things outside of class in every class she teaches and is basically the archetypal old person who's lost a few marbles : I'll give her props for a super easy class if you can bs some papers, and she can be pretty accomadating

Comment:
Horrible class. Completely disorganized. Half the readings she assigned weren't in the textbooks, but she still expected us to do them. We were told about papers less than a week in advance on several occasions. The syllabus was next to non-existent, and she barely knew how to work the classroom technology. Avoid this class if at all possible!

Comment:
Do not. I repeat, do not take this class. It is the worst class I have ever taken. This class is completely unorganized, a waste of your time, and nearly impossible to gain any kind of knowledge from. Turned into an Appalachian studies class rather than a literature class. Save yourself and take another professor or a different class altogether.

This class ruined my 4.0 GPA. I completed all assignments, attended EVERY SINGLE class, and even kept an organized binder of the many handouts Cece printed. After all that, I got an A-. My best friend skipped class, talked back to Cece, and BSed every paper. HE GOT AN A. And yes, I'm bitter about it.

This class gave me anxiety attacks. Literally. I am now on prescribed medication, thanks to Cece Conway.

Possibly the worst professor I have had at app thus far. I learned nothing from this course english related, but i did get a fantastic introductory course in old time banjo music. Extremely disorganized, and scatter brained to the max. While Cece is extremely educated, you wouldn't know it. Run away as fast as you can.

Comment:
I do not recommend taking this class ever. The entire semester felt like an Appalachian Studies class and left all students confused and under-prepared. Professor Conway is indeed very intelligent but very scatter-brained and unorganized. Class was not difficult but the stress is frankly not worth it.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Unless you have a ramped passion for banjo music and psycho analysis, there is nothing here for you. At points I was confused as to wether I was taking a psychology or folk studies course.

You go in, she asks for papers and assignments nobody has because of a lack of any kind of clarity on what the actual assignment is and when it is due, you NEVER know what to do. Gets very frustrated if you express your confusion. Disorganized to the MAX and no respect for students need to learn and be properly communicated with. Don't take it.

Does not follow syllabus. Smart, but does not know how to teach. Grades are subjective. Worst prompts I've ever seen. I liked English and had taken many classes before, but I do not suggest her at all.

If you want an easy class, choose this one. But be prepared, she has no idea how to teach. I couldn't stand this class. The best part? She lost one of my papers 3 times, so I had to email her another copy at the end of the semester. it's almost June, and she has yet to post my grade for the class.

Dr. Conway is by far the worst professor I've ever had at Appalachian. She is incredibly unorganized and has sent 5 page paper assignments by email to the class the day they were due. She's full of really interesting stories, but none that actually pertain to the subject. DO NOT take her class, especially if you want a good grade- you'll regret it.

RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION! Cece is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She caused more stress than I've ever had. Classes are dreadful where everyone goes around and reads a quote from a book. I spent hours writing papers for her yet she was never pleased. If you have to take her, good luck. Just try to seem interested in her and banjos.

Want to get an A+ in Cece's class? I had her for 2 consecutive semesters. ASK HER HOW TO RESTRUCTURE YOUR PAPER. She will basically tell you how she wants to see it (doesn't matter if it's right or wrong, just do what she says). Pretend you're interested in banjo. Lastly, go to class and get her to KNOW YOUR NAME. Last one is very important.

Well, I felt like this class was ultimately about banjos. It was a kind of neat intro to Appalachian culture (though it was an honors seminar English class). She'll work with you on your papers though, which is about the only useful teaching I got out of this class. Also, the reading selection was good.

Cece is an unusual teacher, but if you get rid of your expectations it can be a very rewarding experience. If your interested in the subject, folk history and music, then I would say take her; if you want a standard English class where the teacher pretends to care what you think about some random novel, take anybody else.

Cece is a nice woman, but t BAFFLES me how she became a tenured prof at a University. In my honors Amer Lit class we read a handful of novels and did nothing but read quotes and say what we liked about them. What is this eighth grade? Overall, easy as long as you can put up with listening to irrelevant stories and reading monotonous quotes everyday

what a joke of a class. it could've been such a cool semester if this woman wasn't so crazy. we had to attend a MANDATORY dinner at her house and i was blocked in until 10, with class the next morning! she's nuts. it's sad--the girls in the class got along, but we were brought together with our hate towards that class.
