I really like this teacher. He was very responsive and willing to help. His notes on graded papers are helpful and clear, and he will give extra time if he has taken too long to get the previous paper back to you so that you are able to use his notes to improve. The reading material was enjoyable and he even posted one or two lectures.

Comment:

A friend that took COMP I with this professor talked me into taking COMP II online. The class was not too difficult, but it takes a long time to get graded papers back. He seems a bit unorganized and doesn't respond to emails. If you keep up with the reading and assignments, you should do well.

I took his online class which was a terrible idea. He's not clear on his rubrics and he is unorganized. He's also quite rude if you don't see things his way. Don't take his class if you value your sanity.

He doesnt help at all. Would never get papers back on time so I could improve. Good thing I had the book to help me because even when I emailed him asking questiong he never replied. Im interested to see how my grade will turn out. Im pretty sure I made a B, but I would have done the work for an A, he just never responded OR answered any questions

I would not recommend this instruct for an online class. He takes way too long to grade and returns papers. I turned a paper on 10/13 and did not receive a grade until 11/19. Additionally, he doesn't give you any feedback on papers in order to see what you did wrong and avoid doing it again. He is simply too slow and way too demanding.

horrible teacher. I turned in every paper and he still failed me! He gave me 3 zeros because my mla format was incorrect, instead of taking off points and I have sent him 25 emails and he has not responded to one! horrible horrible waste of time! I took him online. DONT TAKE HIM! He is a jerk in his emails and when I asked for help he blew me off

Took this teacher online and he is horrible! He doesn't respond to emails fast enough and doesn't have a clear syllabus. He also crams a bunch of things at the last minute! He is a very hard grader too. I love to write, but I only got c's on every paper he graded. Don't take him..

I took prof. Hutchison online comp 2 class. It wasn't too hard of a class. There are 4 essays, an MLA multiple choice test, a final, a research paper (5 pages 25% of grade) and a few journals. One thing in particular that was difficult to understand was the WIKI that we were supposed to do. It's not an impossible class, a B is easy to get.

Professor Hutchison was no doubt my favorite teacher. I don't understand why he's getting so many bad reviews! He was a tad unclear about a couple of the main papers, so read the rubric. None of his assignments were that difficult. And if you actually think about what you put in your papers, you'll do fine. Oh, and he's really funny.

He was the worst teacher i have ever had. i had to drop the class because he thought thateverything revolved around his class and for most of the topics, they were off subject, everything that he said never made sense.

He is an awesome professor. Although we didnt read from the book much he taught us more about english in everyday life, which to me made it easier to relate too. Yeah you have a couple papers but they arent overwhelming. He is fun to talk to and very relaxed.

He was so frustrating! He was not very clear on how to do the assignments, has 2 papers and 1 research paper, 3 in-class papers for the tests and an online journal that you have to do. He does not really "teach" the class, he just says "do this" and you just hope you've gotten it right. I DO NOT recommend him at all...

very interesting and good prof! Interesting lectures although it was a little hard staying awake at times. He tells you what essay exams are about and what essays to choose from prior to test day.

Horrible prof. He absolutely does not care about his students, and will not really go out of his way to help you out. Even if you ask for an extension, he will ignore you. I turned in all of my papers, yet he did not accept them, for they were 1 hour late. And, I had an emergency, which I told him about. Not too nice.My first grade lower than a B.

I was in his Fast Track class... He gave us 2 essays PLUS a HUGE research paper, all in one week. Plus, the final and a journal that he forgot to mention, until that week, was due the same day. Prior to taking this class with him, I had never received lower than an A on my papers. Now, I've gotten my first C+. And, he's unclear and incoherrent!!

I find it hilarious that those who rate him poorly generally have the worst spelling/grammar. Yes, his lectures sometimes do resemble that of a philosophy class. Want to see true boredom? Sit through a 3 hour lecture of pure English. The assignments are straight forward and simple! Expect to stay the full length of the class. Involving but easy.
