Class is generally boring for the first half of the semester, with quite a bit of homework. Second half of the class has some interesting things done in class, but the homework is much more challenging and not very well explained until it's too late. Very hard to communicate with outside of class, does not give any sort of detail in feedback

Comment:

Grigorenko is awesome. I heard he sucks for spifo - but he's super passionate about World Religions. Ask whatever questions - doesn't have to be from a Christian standpoint, he'll try to answer as best he can. Dry sense of humor - reminds me of Dr. House.

Comment:

Dr. G's World Religions class was interesting. He has traveled a lot so he has a lot of experience, and he adds his input in class. Group discussions were a daily thing - never be afraid to ask hard questions. Just read the book & make sure you know the material, and you'll pass his quizzes. No exams - just papers on different religions. Loved it!

I hated this class. With such a passion. We finished all major assignments before we got the 1st one back. He is SO UNCLEAR on assignments, half the class was in the computer lab asking each other how to do an assignment. Unhelpful in his office too. SPIFO should not be this confusing or difficult. It should not make me HATE studying the Bible.

Readings (some very long) and (1-page) reading responses GALORE! At least 1 every class (MWF) and often 2 per class, though graded on completion not so much content. But class itself is a breeze: we just discussed the readings and if you can discuss it, he's happy with it. Grade was entirely on getting the RRs in on time and brought to class

Comment:

Grigorenko's Spifo is still the best class I've had at Cedarville, as of my junior year. While not everyone loves his teaching style, I did. His assignments are hard, but worth the work. You get out of this class what you put into it, so put a lot into it and you won't be sorry!

I really enjoyed Dr.G's mission classes! I learned a lot about mission theology and definitely saw myself enriched by the discussions and materials we used for class. Definitely an elective that challenged me to think deeply about God's mission in the world. I also took BEPT 3470 with him!

TONS of reading, lots of long writing assignments, and he's a very picky grader. Doesn't give much instructions, help, or feedback. Discussions are great, and you do learn a lot, but it's in no way an easy A.

Great Prof. You do not need to attend class to pass. Just read the text and do the assignments. He clearly lists how to do the assignment. Not a difficult class at all!

Dr. G (as he's called) has a very high standard, and while that's not a problem, he is not very anxious to help his students actually meet it. His lectures were usually pretty fascinating, but his assignments were needlessly difficult and time-consuming for a freshman class with ultra-specific directions. Take SpiFo with someone else.

He is quite rude and arrogant and pretentious! He does not explain things well and he is very picky in his grading! He'll take off points for not having a period in a notation! This is a good class to take, but not by him!!! Try Sprinkle!

Grigorenko is very difficult, expects you to know your stuff, read your syllabus, and come to class ready to discuss. we had a good time as a class because we brought out his ADD side :) i was unclear on the 15 page commentary, that was the most difficult part of the class. tests were no piece of cake, either.

Grigorenko is truly the best professor I have had. He is fun and encouraging and very wise. I have learned so much about studying the Bible and learning more about Christ. This man is truly a great man and professor!
