Comment:
He does swear occasionally and is moody usually but he does have interesting stories to tell. The class consists of four group projects and class participation (5 grades in total make up the whole grade). The projects include a field report, powerpoint, and field notes which you submit through canvas or email. The class is all group work.

Ford is a cool guy. This class was pretty easy because it consisted of only 4 group projects and one participation grade. The only thing I didn't like about this class was that sometimes Ford would be really happy one second and then be really angry the next. He swears a lot and is very outspoken in multiple ways, but otherwise pretty chill.

Dr. Ford is a great professor. Yes, the written papers take forever, but they are easy. You just read and summarize. Took both his classes. By far the most liberal teacher I've taken, by far the teacher I most remember. If you're an econ major you should take one of his classes to see the other side.

This class is UNFATHOMABLY TIME CONSUMING. You learn a lot but YOU CANNOT DO ANYTHING ELSE. The exams are both 15+ papers, the projects are 40+ papers. Its an easy 'C' but ridiculously difficult to get an 'B' or an 'A'. If all you have is time on your hands, take this class. If you are even remotely busy with doing anything else, DO NOT TAKE!

I STRONGLY agree with the person below. This class IS NOT easy at all. The professor requires a MINIMUM of 2 take home 15+ page "tests" and a 25+ page project and near-perfect attendance to achieve a 'B'. Add a second project for an 'A'. In addition, all work has needed improvements and resubmission before satisfactory. I def. regret taking this

Dr. Ford is an amazing teacher. His classes are enlightening and economics is indeed enormously politically driven! Dr. Ford is not only helpful but a breath of fresh air on ECO education as his teaching style is easy to follow and interesting. I'm an ECO major and I have learned more useful info from him than any other ECO teacher. Take him!!!

I feel mislead by the comments of this professor. I honestly don't understand how easiness level was labeled as "easy", considering that there are two 20 page papers and one 40 page project due. This was in his Inequality class. With the exception of no exams, I don't find writing 80 page papers easy, and neither did I find it remotely useful.

Sure he's normative, but you need a little bit of that in economics, otherwise you don't get any understanding of the consequences due to the allocation of resources. He's right you know; economics is political by nature. His course isn't based on hard-math,but take this course for building your theoretical understanding.

Very easy A. get the pro-copy notes. they're fill in the blank and he gives you the answers in class, but if you miss you can just read the powerpoints he posts up. I took this over the summer. You definitely have to study your stuff for exams but its 100% straightforward. He's an excellent teacher also and it a total boston-er. study haaad

Love this professor! Took him for Basic Economics and Economics of Income Inequality, Poverty, and Discrimination. Teaches his classes like a social science class, not a math class. You basically get to choose the grade; 2 take home tests get you a C; plus one book summary gets a B or two book summaries gets you a A; lets you redo the assignments

Professor Ford needed to retire years ago. He refuses to acknowledge any points of view other than his own. He is very radical in his views. If you are a conservative, save yourself the stress of his teaching and skip this class. It is predominately arts econ majors. It isn't a business college level class. I can't believe he is sill teaching.

This guy sucks. Seriously, he teaches slowly and gets off topic very easily. I wouldn't even call this class Economics, his point of view is so weird. He needs to retire and be gone, because his attitude is bad if for some reason he doesn't like you. Don't take him and just move on, trust me.

I'm a liberal, so I should have loved this course, but it was a disappointment. Ford is disorganized and doesn't make a compelling case in favor of the radical economic viewpoint. He's a nice guy and his heart is in the right place, but SYO3530 w/ Cavendish or INR3018 w/ Peng are better courses if you are really interested in this subject.

The class is pretty easy. He has everyone buy a book of notes and all you have to do is fill in the blanks as he lectures. He knows a lot about economics but his lectures are extremely boring. Tests are pretty easy if you look over the notes, do the study guide questions, and take the practice test.

Ed is a great professor because he really cares about his subject. However, the class is EXTREMELY boring and if you are not dedicated to coming to class and taking notes, you will most likely not do well. Colonel Sanders... er... Ed Ford, gives pretty easy tests and usually curves. Be warned though, there are only 3 tests used to calculate grade!

Mr. Ford is the best! He has a silly since of humor and really wants his students to pass. But don't take him for a joke, in this class you get what you earn. So study hard. He is a fair grader and is always willing to help. So those of you who had something slick to say about him--- happy studies!!!!
