He makes going to school worth the drive. He's extremely smart and dedicated to his profession. Best professor I've had at NEIU. He's not easy like 99.9% of the professors... That's probably why people don't like him. But I felt like I was taking a university course, and not in community college.

I think Dr. Odisho is a wonderful instructor. He is very knowledgeable in the subject area. He is very strict but I feel the course is what is should be for a 300 level course. This is college people! His grading I find to be generous. My first exam I received a B and the second an A. My grade may suffer though becuase he is strict on attendan

Comment:
The textbook he chose was very one-sided;it does not mention European minorities and does not really help a teacher understand how to teach these children. He is not the best at giving out rubrics, and is unforgiving about attendance even if you have kids or a job.If you drink anything other than water--it says so in his syllabus--you're in trouble.

I know most students hate this man, but I like him. He is an extremely hard grader. Many times, I had trouble figuring out what he was asking for. He talked a lot about what NOT to do, but gave few examples of what to do instead. His focus was on Linguistics and teaching the alphabet, leaving out the majority of material you need to teach LA.

This class was one of the worst classes I have taken. Everything was about Linguistics and NOT about teaching social studies. Very boring. Also puts students down. Good Luck!!!

Odisho is an absolutely awful professor, unless, of course, you want to come to class every day and hear about his trials and tribulations about fleeing Iraq some 30 years ago, how about teaching social studies methods, isn't that what we are paying for, and you are getting paid to teach? Oh wait, Dr Odisho, is that a run-on sentence?

This is by far the worst teacher I have ever had! He is not easy, not fun and he is a terrible professor. He should be fired. This is a methods of soc studies class and the only thing he talks about is linguistics. The guy is too old to be teaching. He needs to retire. He sucks!

He has an extraordinary amount of knowledge concerning linguistics, however, the class is not a linguistics class and that is primarily what is being taught.
