Very flexible. Difficult classes contrast with surprisingly lenient grading. Especially recommend him if you are interested in RPSS.

Corney is a phenomenal professor, his lectures are new and engaging, and he instructs in a way that made me love the subject matter. This class is dependent on your TA for the bulk of the grade though, so if you make the poor decision to skip Corney's classes, definitely go to your TA sessions. Absolutely worth taking a class with him if you can.

In Global History, he lectured about the worst sport in the world, cricket, for a whole class. But Corney a nice, cool, British man. He is the chair of the history department and pretty smart, although his lectures in this class weren't that relevant to the text. TA holds grade though. I really like Corney though, got to know him. Would recommend.

What you get out of the class and your grade is really dependent on your TA. Weird prof but an interesting lecturer.

Your grade really depends on your TA but lectures with Corney were always fantastic. He knows what he's talking about and keeps it informative and humorous. Attendance not required but is helpful for the Friday discussion section.

Prof Corney himself has interesting lectures, clear organization and respect of students. He is personable in a way that many professors are not. However, the lectures are not really relevant and he doesn't cover textbook information. This would be fine if exams were lecture based but they are textbook based, so be ready to teach yourself.

Professor Corney is awesome. Great lectures, good sense of humor, and a very achievable class curriculum. 2 lectures and a discussion section, a couple papers and a midterm and final. All very manageable.

Corney is fantastic. Nothing else to add. Your grade for Global History largely rests with your TAs so hope you get a good one, but the prof himself is a god.

There never seems to be a dull moment in this class. Professor Corney works really hard to make an intro class entertaining. However, your entire grade rests on your TA. If you come to discussions and read you'll be fine.

Best prof I've had so far. His lectures are always fascinating, he's always fair in his telling of history, and he's hilarious. Also, he just knows everything--definitely try and get to know him in office hours if you can. Graded by two papers, a midterm and a final, with a little participation. Lots of reading but it's mostly interesting.

I love Corney. I studied abroad with him in Russia. He's such a good professor. Funny, caring, etc. He likes to pretend he doesn't understand technology just to mess with the students. He's such a great guy.

The majority of your grade rests with your TA, so be sure to show up to all of the discussions with the readings for the week prepared and be ready to actively participate (it counts for 20% of your grade). I found that lecture attendance wasn't always necessary, but it's safer to go because Corney's BB just has slides with mostly pictures.

Corney was my professor for a large lecture class, so participation wasn't a big deal. However, he really appreciates when students go into office hours, and he's a great person to talk to as both an advisor and for help in the class. His lectures are interesting, and he's clearly interested in the subject.

The material was very interesting and it opened my eyes to different perspectives. Corney is very funny and quirky, really nice guy. (Also his British accent is adorable) However your grade really depends on your TA so be sure to come prepared to the TA discussions. Some TAs do the readings and others don't, so the experiences vary.

Gives 1 midterm, 1 final, and 2 papers. His lectures were interesting, and were almost always on the midterm and final. Readings are mandatory for TA discussions. If you do the weekly readings and stay up to date on the definitions, you'll do well in this class. The midterm and final had random definitions from the semester and then a general essay

Incredible lecturer, some topics may initially seem unrelated to the textbook readings but they're all connected back at the end. Grade is somewhat dependent on your discussion section TA. Still a fantastic course, well organized and the topics are interesting. Reading is a must. Favorite class at W&M so far - Corney's accent is also on point.

Comment:
Class is interesting, but a lot of information to take in, can be confusing and overwhelming at times. Discussion sections are necessary, because Corney talks a lot about making connections but rarely does so explicitly. He lectures on specific examples that don't always clearly relate back to overall themes. Very hard for a non-auditory learner.

He is a fantastic professor, and he has a clear passion for the subject. You have to read the book, but the discussion sessions at the end of the week are very helpful. The best and most organized class I've had at college yet.

He's probably THE best history professor in the department. His lectures are very interesting and you're bound to never doze off. It's highly recommended that you attend class because he stresses the certain things that you should remember for the midterm/final.

Corney is the nicest teacher in the school. His lectures are interesting and his accent is great to listen to. His tests are hard, and he gives a lot of hints during class, so I recommend going to all of them. He's super helpful in office hours, just have your questions ready ahead of time! And get your topic for the final early so he can help.
