Honestly, I'm surprised he has a doctorate. He shows films once a week, every class, but never discusses the actual reading about the class. We just talk about the mediocre film he shows. Also, it's film literature, and I've yet to see where the literature part comes into play; it's all just B films not connected to any sort of lit.

Incredibly nice! Seems to do the same essays each year (Like vaccinations or bail bonds) but as long as you follow his advice and don't use "I" pronouns you'll get a decent grade. He also gives long extension dates on papers and the in class work he grades for completion. Loved the class!

Super nice! He makes the class interesting but the paper topics aren't. He chooses topics that are not interesting at all which makes it very difficult to write and shows videos about the topic that are years old. Graded papers take a while to get back to you causing him to push the due date back multiple times.

He is very specific on how he grades. Which is understandable but he will only give basic outlines and the topics range from vaccines to bail bonds to everything in between.

He took way too long to grade everything. Classes seemed useless and he was very unclear when explaining things.

This guy has been the worst teacher I've ever had. He slanders you if you're not a literature genius and writes extremely rude comments on papers. Took three months to grade a three-page paper. Not helpful; not responsive to emails, etc. If I could go back, I'd drop his class in a heartbeat.

Not the most organized person. He's a nice guy outside of the classroom but his creative writing classes are dull. He gets easily confused when people voice their opinions in class and asks questions until you're blue in the mouth. Some may think that's helpful, others may find it annoying as heck.

oh, i am surprised Jim is being criticized for his bad attitude. It's been a while since i took a class with him at a different college. he was very helpful and supportive at the time towards me, and i wrote some of my best critical papers. He gave me a lot of autonomy and control over my learning experience. sad to hear he changed badly.

The more agreeable Wilson, but still rather rude at times. He's mostly nice, but also has a slight condescending streak. Every class is conducted through discussion based around questions you turn in beforehand. Not really a tough grader, and his papers are short. He knows his stuff, though, and I'd recommend a class or two with him.

One of the rudest people I have met in a long time. Every time I said something in class, he looked at me like I was stupid. His comments on papers are hurtful and judgmental ("Did you read this before you turned it in?"). Definitely played favorites. I was discouraged from being a Creative Writing minor after this class.

Although I think Dr. Wilson is a nice person, he is liberal as all get out which makes me wish I could, in fact, get out of his class. It seems his comments on my essays are geared towards my opinions rather than mechanics. I still get A's, but if you disagree with him be prepared to provide more support than others who do agree with him. But Kind.

With Dr. Jim, be prepared to not only participate in class but show up everyday and have an interesting conversation about whatever you're reading (in upper level courses about 70 pages a night) Dr. Jim is super soft spoken but he is a highly intelligent man who has really big ideas. I love all his classes.

He is wonderful. Cares a lot about students, and does not play favorites. Love how he teaches class. I never made anyhing less than a B on any of my papers. He's more of a friend than a teacher. I would recommend taking any of his classes.

Not a bad teacher, there's worse. Paper's are the only assignments, plus we had to go to 2 of the Writer's in Residence thing. I recommend getting those out of the way first.

He is very picky on how you write. if he does not like how you write he will give you bad grades. i had a lot of people proof read my essays and he still gave me a C. i had 2 english majors look it over too and they said it was good. he is very arrogant and is not helpful at all.

Dr. Jim Wilson is the best. I took him for comp 101 and 102 and hes such an intelligent teacher. Just do your work and everything will be fine. He reads your papers out loud, but who cares, it helps so much. He is the best english teacher i have ever had. Hands down. Speak your mind, and talk to him, he likes that.
