Comment:
Professor Hemminger seemed like a nice man but was not a good professor. He did not prepare us well for tests and would lecture about the manipulation of equations instead of how to use them or examples in which they would be useful. I would not recommend taking his class.

I ended up teaching myself for this class. His first midterm was tough, I was able to get a B on his second midterm. Brutal final, but I managed to get a decent grade. This class is probably more a self-study than anything else so don't expect much from the lectures/class.

Grade consists of 2 midterms, mastering chem which was worth 5%, and a final. Mastering Chemistry doesn't really help much since his tests were all in the format of free-response questions, so pace yourself because I barely had time to finish them. One of his TA's was extremely helpful and the other was not as much. Decent professor overall.

Not super easy as the first few reviews said he was, but definitely do-able if you put in time to study and ask TA questions. Lectures are kinda useless since he mainly does deviations, but sometimes he does sample questions. Look over those sample questions since they reflect exam questions. Final was 55% -- got A+ with 90% average on tests.

He was not the best lecturer, but seemed like a really nice guy. I ended up having to teach myself and rely on LARC tutoring because he honestly confused me in lecture. The curve ended up being pretty generous though and made up for the difficult exams that came with the confusing lectures.

Tips: 1. lecture. Don't be overwhelmed by derivations - knowing equations is good enough. Pay attention to what is "important." 2. Do mastering Chem and book problems assigned. Some book problems saved my ass on the final. Mostly calculation 3. If you're confused by his methods, just learn from videos. Don't dwell on it, or you get a headache.

This professor is super caring which is a huge plus, but unfortunately fails to lecture to students in a way that is followable. Every one of the concepts we learned were taught in an unorthodox way with completely different equations he derived and during the lecture he would skip many steps confusing us more. HARD tests, little curve, dont take

He is a fairly reasonable and understanding professor. The hw was easy most of the time since they were just book problems. The midterms were okay (finishable); when he says "this sounds like a good question for the midterm", he means it so pay attention to that. He curves the class at the end. Overall, it was a decent class and Hemminger is nice.

Gives AP style tests with 5 questions broken up in smaller parts for midterms. Easy homework which are ?'s in the book. Says he looks to give A's wherever he can including just looking for continual signs of improvement. Always ask for regrade if there's chance. Easiest teacher of the H2 series.

He's so nice and friendly. Lecture is very clear. He reviews the material from previous lecture every time so you won't forget. Tests are based on the homework, mostly calculation problems.

He has a very nice outline of his material. Lectures clearly, well articulate compares to couple of other p-chem teacher. Exams are not so bad if you knkow a little bit of everything in all the topics, nothing tricky at all. Does not have sample exams nor does he provide any sort of review.
