Comment:
Best teacher ever. Dr. Kimmel is very easy going and incredibly helpful and probably the most capable at teaching philosophy to students. Admittedly though he can be very quiet sometimes, and while many lectures were fist pumpingly awesome others could be boring at times, overall though, great professor.

Class consists of sitting in a circle discussing the (often boring) homework reading. Nice guy, funny, but most classes are boring. It's nice not having tests. But there are 6 papers throughout the semester, the shortest being 5 pages. Not the worst class, but very time consuming.

Comment:
Dr. Kimmel teaches ethics by assigning readings, and then quizzing over the material. He does not quiz over what you thought about the piece, but what the piece said. You have to memorize each reading, with almost no critical thought/analysis involved. His Ethics is extremely shallow and surface level, and even lectures never go beyond that.

So the topic of the class (life and literature) is very interesting and the readings are so NEAT, but sometimes class can be a little...long. Dr. Kimmel is a really nice and smart guy, but sometimes he goes over my head with his questions. Papers are hard, but he just wants you to do well. Try your best. He likes effort.

An incredible guy with a hell of a background. Some lessons are great and hilarious and hold your attention, others made me fall asleep. Same goes for the readings. A pretty easy grader but not very consistent and it's hard to figure out how you're doing in the class. Still, had a lot of fun and enjoyed taking shots during the lessons.

Kimmel was an amazing professor for seminar. He is understanding and encourages students to express their opinions. As long as you do the readings, the class will be enjoyable and easy. Having no tests was awesome! The only grades he takes are for your papers and participation! Best class ever! Looking forward to taking another class with him!

He might not be the most fun teacher to be around, but he has a unique way of interpreting his readings. Honestly, he maintains your interest and he is a great professor outside the class. If you need help he will most definitely help you.

I withdrew from his freshman seminar, and he was extremely nice and understanding. The class was not impossible, but the readings are difficult. This is no blow off seminar, and I wouldn't suggest it unless you're into philosophy.

Dr. Kimmel is probably a genius and so he seems to be on a different level than most students. I had him first year, when I didn't know anything about anything, but I went to him for help and he was very open and helpful. In papers, he wants new, innovative ideas. Think outside the box.

Way boring class, especially at 8:30 in the morning. Some interesting articles but that was about it. Make sure you write your journal entries, and focus on the essay exams. If you need help or are having trouble, go see him and he'll help you out. Easy A though.

Not a very exciting professor. Certainly he does occasionally say profound things, but when everyone's asleep, it doesn't really matter. Very kind and generous outside of the classroom.

His classes were boring and extremly hard. No matter how interesting you may think class will be, it will still be boring. While I did dislike his class he is extremly helpful if you go talk to him outside of class.
