So much busy work. This class beats you over the head with useless assignments and becomes so frustration when the professor is rude and disrespectful during lectures.

Took it over the summer. Very Easy. Two poems and responses to 4 poems ( 3 being your fellow classmates) due every Sunday. Lenient about submission time. Really good feedback when you email her individually but vague and contrary for general reviews. Tip: when she rearranges your poems, keep the changes. Find PDF book free online

Comment:

Her critiques are vague. She's poor on time management, giving one student an hour for a workshop, and the other student 15 mins. She wants you to participate in every class, on every piece, more than once, and if you don't, your grade suffers. She takes lectures too far at times. I would advise to take someone else for this course.

I have never had to sit through such boring lectures in my life. It's her tone and the way she talks, but her enthusiasm just didn't hit the mark for me. While she is knowledgeable about writing and editing, I could always think of a hundred things I would rather do than sit through her lectures.

She pushes you to your fullest potential. Cares immensely about her students. Gives excellent, helpful feedback. Work hard and it'll pay off big time in your writing. Her class isn't the place to slack off.

This class was fun but it did not have the right instructor. She gives more quizzes than she actually teaches. You will learn the material on your own and create your project on your own. She isn't very helpful. She isn't very good with time management and she will talk for most of the class. The class itself is fun but that's it.

Dr. Roney is a professional. You can learn a lot from her. Pay attention to her lectures, she can go off topic but it's never nonsense. She runs a tight ship. She knows her stuff and expects you to keep up. Some of the reading material wasn't incredibly interesting but it was useful.

Comment:

Roney is a very nice woman, but her class is about as interesting as watching paint dry. She does have the tendency to relish in her own accomplishments. Class is rather unorganized and she is very poor with time management.

Dr. Roney is a great professor who loves creative writing and teaching and it shows. This class should not be taken as a route for an easy "A", you will have to work for it but the work is easy and the reading even easier.

I hated her. Not a good teacher, unclear, gave harsh criticism (which is fine!), but seemed like she just disliked me. Unreliable. Horrible excuse for a professor. I love writing, but considered changing my major because of her. Try another teacher.

Professor Roney is a nice lady but a TERRIBLE "lecture" teacher. She taught mad/bad last semester and it was a miserable excuse for a class; she had us watch copious amounts of movies and read articles that we never received assignments for. The assignments we did receive were unclear and confusing.

Nice lady but horrible teacher, at least in large classroom settings. We had to watch 11 movies outside of class on our own time (and they were out of print!). Assigned group projects to a class with 161 students.. not a good idea. Test are hard. Doesn't make topic interesting.

Had her for Nonfiction Workshop. She's a great professor who is extremely helpful with coming up with ideas. Her comments are always good, and she lets the class say what they want/need to during workshops. Don't miss out on a class with her! I'm taking her for an editing class next semester as well.

Roney is a very nice lady but not such a great teacher. I took her Editing and learned absolutely nothing about it, but I did learn a TON about her past experiences living in Manhattan and her background in publishing. She talks incessantly about herself. She also had us buy SEVEN textbooks. She's very friendly but she doesn't really teach.

The most inspirational professor I've had at UCF. She leads the funnest and most productive workshops I've ever attended, and she's not afraid to talk about her own work/experiences. I'd pay double tuition for the opportunity to take her class for advanced Nonfic, but unfortunately she's not teaching that this semester.

Professor Roney is possibly the best creative writing teacher at UCF. I took her for both intro and advanced nonfic and I have never gotten better feedback on my work. Her comments are detailed and honest. She's easy to reach outside of the classroom and more really willing to work with you if there's a problem! Highly, highly recommend!
