Passionate guy. Too intense for a required GE class, though. Pretty pretentious dude, belittles students and states his opinions as indisputable facts. Wanna major in english? Take him, he knows his stuff. Looking for a GE and don't wanna dedicate hours a day towards Hemingway writings? avoid, it's unreasonably challenging.

Nickel is my king. He at times comes off as angry/intense, but he is not at all he is just extremely passionate and idk his passion made me interested in the class. Like wow I've never been into English, but he made me intrigued. The content is interesting and him being attractive did not hurt.

Wow, what a professor! Composition 2 is a lot of work, but it is absolutely worth it. He added an entire new perspective to the way I analyze literature. He is funny, friendly, and one of the most sincere people I have ever met. I would recommend this professor to anyone and everyone, take it!

Wow awesome teacher if you actually want to learn something. Makes Comp 2 harder than other professors do but he has a huge passion for English. Grades really fairly, boring to sit in class sometimes. But he is really funny and sarcastic. I had no interest in English before but he made great insights in literature

Overall awesome professor; really knows his stuff and tries to make you think. Expects you to really go into what you read, and become a better writer, but that's what the course is all about. Takes attendance, but even if he didn't it would be worth it to go. Listen to what he has to say, as it's usually very interesting and hilarious.

Yes, Nickel's class is life-changing, but he takes Freshman Comp II wayyy too seriously. For a course that everyone has to take and pass to graduate, it's a bit intense. But he makes amazing connections, and uses materials that will impact the rest of your life and philosophy instead of "fun" books. Gives lots of extra credit opportunities!

Love Him! Really gets into what hes teaching. Relates to students. Doesn't give quizes often, but when he does he sometimes does them with you. Gives LOTS of extra credit! Cool and laid back but makes the class interesting. However, Finals and Midterms contain A LOT of Quotes! So get a highlighter! Overall Cool Guy!

One of the best teachers i've had, you know what he wants from you and expects everyone to do well. He is willing to help anyone who needs it he is extremely knowledgeable and give interesting reading and assingments. He is a great professor to start SUNY with he is a fair grader and a great teacher
