i love michael dale!! so caring and thoughtful. readings were necessary to participate in class but they were all really interesting. grades based on reflections of the readings. he would give us a copy of a poem or book that he thought we'd like after reading our reflections. the best. please take this class

Alrighty, here's the deal. He is a super nice guy and he doesn't believe in "grades" so nobody has ever gotten less than an A- in his class. However, this particular class is supposed to be about animals and all of our books have been about sex (between humans). It is uncomfortable and he provides no trigger warnings for sensitive topics.

Michael has easily become one of my favorite professors at App. He is great to talk to, both in and out of class. I would recommend his class to anyone, however if you do not enjoy reading or speaking in front of groups, it may not be the best fit. One of the most caring, funny, and entertaining professors I have had. 10/10

One of the best professors app has to offer! Michael Dale always has reading assignments that are fascinating. Some of the material is triggering without warning, however, the class is worth it. This class changed my outlook on life- my most memorable class yet. Also HE DOESNT BELIEVE IN GRADES. Easy A. So much respect and love for Michael.

Michael Dale has definitely been the most influential professor in my college career thus far. The readings he provides are incredibly thought-provoking and he always incorporates meaningful insights into the class discussion. If you ever have the opportunity to take one of his classes, I highly recommend doing so. A very amiable individual.

I will be forever grateful that I chose Michael Dale's class. Though his material can get extremely heavy and he should employ trigger warnings, I truly feel like my mind has been both challenged and opened by the environment in his class. His sense of humor is biting and sarcastic without any tones of meanness. I love that man.

What an incredible man. Michael is the kindest, most intelligent person I have met at App. He cares so much about each and every one of his students and even more for the books that he will have you read. His classes all follow this basic formula: Read selections from books or short stories, talk about them next class. It is literally book club.

He's the bomb! You have to be open to thoughtful discussions with lots of long silent pauses as people wrap their heads around various topics. He is very philosophical, book-heavy, and thoughtful. He truly cares about you in and out of class, and loves book recommendations. As long as you contribute to the discussion and do the reading, he's great.

Great Teacher, very very thoughtful and pushes his students. He's very accessible and cares about his students and is always available outside of class. Expect to read and have discussions on the books with weekly (short) papers. He has no tests but there is a lot of writing. Show up, participate, and read and you'll get an A

You have to read the books he gives but he allows ample time to read them all. Mainly seminar based but you do have papers. He gives great feedback and is super supportive of everyone's opinions in class discussions. My class was really quiet and awkward and some people only spoke up a few times the whole semester. An awesome guy and course.

Michael Dale is a great guy and very passionate about the material you read. You will have to read a ton in this class, but it is interesting, so it isn't that bad. The class is seminar style and it can be a bit awkward at times if no one has anything to say.

Michael Dale is one of the most brilliant people I have had the honor of learning from. You read a lot, I mean a LOT, but all the books are engaging and tie together insanely well. Just from who he is, you will work not just for the grade, but from being inspired and wanting him to enjoy your writing. Cannot recommend enough.

Michael Dale is a phenomenal professor and person. I loved this seminar - Dr. Dale is incredibly intelligent and poses meaningful questions for discussion. You don't have to talk, but it helps your grade and reflection essays if you do. The reading is overall manageable, and all selected texts are interesting and engaging. Cannot recommend enough.

Michael Dale is such a wonderful professor and person in general. He genuinely cares about his students and although he does want you to actually learn, he doesn't focus much on grading. I looked forward to class every day and even enjoyed the homework. He is so smart and so genuine; take his classes and be his friend.

You read novels, and then sit in a circle every day and talk about them in depth. What more can you ask for from an honors seminar? Top-notch class. I highly recommend it. Just be ready to read a book a week, literally.

He is so nice and really enjoys the discussions each class. As long as you participate in the discussions and read the books you will know what you are talking about in order to write the assigned papersreflections. I was dreading taking this class because I hate reading and it is early but it is honestly one of my favorite classes.
