Mike is a super cool dude. He's interesting and cares for his students. This class was taught alongside another professor, Mrs. H, who is also lovely. The class is straight forward and the rubrics clearly lay out each assignment. The quizzes are pretty simple as well. I got the books for this course, but didn't use them too much.

This was a 4 week remote class because of COVID. His online lectures were very helpful and explained everything. For it being intensive, there is a lot of work, but he provides copies of all worksheets/final so you don't feel rushed when you do it online. The best thing about him is he provides multiple resources or alternatives to help you succeed

This is the lecture and lab course for spring preterm. You hike every morning starting at 9am and go find specific spots around the park where they are marked on your map. When you're done you have time to do whatever until lecture time. Larkin is AWESOME he's easy to understand and tests are very easy long as you understand maps and compass!

Provided food and coffee for the class. We ran from 4:45 to 8:05 and he respected that we typically eat during that time.

Mike is a awesome guy, he is willing to go the extra mile to help you succeed. He makes class fun, his lectures can be long but very interesting. He puts a lot of effort into his homework, they are definitely not busy work assignments. I would recommend Mike to anyone, you don't have to be a Geography major to have fun in his classes.

I took the intensive week long map and compass class which worked out great during break. Every morning we would go on a hike and use our map for the "lab" part of the class and then afternoons were back in the classroom for the lecture. I got 4 credits done in one week- so worth it. Easy to understand material but easy to make mistakes on test!

I took the intensive 6 day ges 1050 class taught by Larkin. Larkin seems like a nice and funny dude, but this class is not to be taken lightly. His class ruined my 3.9 gpa with a C. If you dont understand directions or geography, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. if you really need a quick class, just do chemistry honestly.

Mike Larkin is an easy going professor. He lets you use study sheets on the test and believes that the information you learn in his class should be enjoyed not crammed into your head.

Mike was hilarious, and really encouraged learning. You went out to Palmer Park and hiked, got two hours for lunch, then had lecture and assignments. Make sure to wear correct shoes. Tests were not too hard, but I was already familiar with the material. You can take this class instead of chemistry or biology, it is much easier and way more fun!

Mike was awesome! The class was pretty long, but he is super funny and makes the time go by quickly. You definitely have to put in the work to get a good grade, but if you make time, it should be no problem! I would highly recommend taking him.

Larkin has such a great sense of humor, and is very enthusiastic about his job and the subject matter. This was not a fun semester for me, and Larkin was very understanding and accommodating for my needs. He is very respectful towards students and knows how to make the 4-hour long class move quickly. Highly recommended!

He's super funny and makes the lectures interesting. He has very detailed power points for lectures and gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. There are a lot homework grades from the textbook so the textbook is needed. Attendance isn't necessary, but the lectures are important and helpful. And before the final you go on a field trip!

I initially struggled in this class, but Mike was very patient and always found a way in explaining things to me in full clarity. He is very helpful and on top of all a fun teacher to be around. Passed the class thanks to his awesome help. Very good teacher indeed and one of the best teachers I had at my University.

Mike is an approachable, down-to-earth guy who wants his students to be successful. I had a blast with him in my GPS course. Anyone who gets to take a class with him is lucky; he is still the best prof I have had at UCCS and I can't wait to take more classes with him in the future!

Maps and Compass was such a wonderful class! Mike is such a fun person and levels with his students. He makes jokes, he's sarcastic, but he helps you when you are struggling. Plus, we got to go to Palmer Park and hike around for CREDITS! He's a great teacher with a lot of knowledge to share.
