Regarding grading: her syllabus says one thing but how she actually grades is entirely different. She is liberal, so conservatives either misrepresent your viewpoints or be ready for a fight

Extremely rude to students. I took this as an online class and if a student didn't understand how to do something, she was not very willing to help. Posts a lot of rude remarks to students via D2L and through e-mail. I was shocked at how disrespectful she was. A lot of her assignments were confusing and she wasn't willing to help you understand

Comment:

Steck is one of the most confused professors I've had the displeasure of working with. She doesn't hold herself to the same standards that she holds her students, and hands out confusing assignments that nobody understands. The subject material is easy, but her assignments are nonsensical. She treats students with disregard, even though we pay her!

Comment:

Online Ethics was a challenge. What made it challenging was that we were basically on our own. No feedback from papers or discussions. 5 week summer course, 10 essays, 10 quizzes, 10 discussions, 1 final paper. It was an interesting class and helped me understand things. Probably would take it with a different prof if I had to do it again.

She is the worst teacher that I have ever had at Century College. It was an online Ethics class and she would not answer ANY questions or emails through the entire semester so we were all on our own.

I liked Patty as a teacher. I didn't like the class as much. The reading was boring, but she managed to make the subject material interesting. We had to write three essays in her class, but two were left until the last two weeks of class, and I think things needed to be spaced a bit farther apart.

BEST TEACHER AT CENTURY! i loved steck! She is very helpful, willing to work with you. I had her in two classes and i loved it, my grades went up because i enjoyed both classes even tho logic isn't my strong suit. This woman is fun, thoughtful, funny, relaxed.. just awesome

I was told that Patty was the best Logic teacher. I was informed well! I learned a lot and enjoyed going to class. She goes over everything very clearly and had no trouble in the class. Having an in-class tutor was a great bonus! I liked her and the class so much I took her Ethics class the following semester! If you take logic, take it with Patty!

Patty was great. She's a very sweet person and I can tell she actually cared about my learning. If you have a math mind, take logic. It will be a breeze. If not, you can still master the material easily.

She is awesome!!! She wants you to succeed and there is a tutor if you need it. The ONLY thing i don't like about her class is her grading. I got 100% on everything except the last quiz (all the quizzes are the same points) I got a B on, and because of the way she grades i got a B in the class, i feel i deserved an A i worked really hard.

She is a great professor, no doubt. She is knowledgeable, and does a great job at clarifying and simplifying the complexities of Ethical theories. However, she does procrastinate on grading and get sidetracked during her lectures often. Keep up with weekly online quiz, discussions, and be prepared to write several 3-5 page long papers!

Patty is an awesome teacher and she really makes logic fun! The way she sets up her quizzes is great! Your first quiz online you get a second chance on it, so you basically get a perfect score. The rest of the quizzes are done in class. She is very clear when she teaches new rules.

Great lectures, I really enjoyed going to her class. Phil. can be hard to read but she explains it really well and makes it understandable. I also learned waaaaay more about writing from her than I did from eng1020, and Im much more comfortable writing now than b4 her class. Shes very helpful outside of class too if you need help. Very optimistic.

Very good teacher; bascially teaches everything you need to know! Loves to smile! The only thing I'd criticize is her self-disclosure; she shares a lil too much info. about her personal life.

I had to drop this class a previous semester after not following the teacher and being too prideful to just get help. Don't let her previous ratings fool you- she is an excellent Intro to Logic teacher. She wants you to pass and gives you resources to make it happen. Logic is a crappy course, but take it with her.

She has a lovely personality with a kind heart. However, I didn't get the most out of her class. I did learn some useful things but I was expecting more. She procrastinates on correcting papers (as she stated) so that was a downside. It was only until the end of the semester when she did that.

Comment:

Ms. Steck is very likeable. She doesn't always rmbr students names but will help especially during her office hours. Read the book and you'll be ok for her online multiple choice and even matching quizzes. The lectures can be confusing because she allows students to say their opinions... instead of focsuing on the content. Do the term paper early!!
