Each class, Bowen uses at least 2 different methods of teaching, usually lecture and a video. He uses old memes and Harry Potter in every slideshow. He is incredibly sweet and genuinely cares about every one of his students. His writing requirement is the same for every course; a 200 word paper per chapter and 2500 words of optional extra credit.

Bowen is probably the nicest person I've ever met. Such a caring soul who really wants every one of his students to greatly excel. As others said, the tests are directly from the textbook and they're long (75 multiple choice questions), but they're usually simple common sense. Tons of (easy) extra credit too, but I got an A without doing any of it.

Dr. Bowen is probably the nicest professor at RIT. His tests are long but directly out of the book, and he grades with a pretty forgiving curve. His slides include basically all of the information, so you don't need to get the book. He gives basically full credit if you show up and try.

Truly one of my favorite professors of all time. The sweetest man I've ever met and he makes a lot of corny dad jokes. I took him for Abnormal Psych and it was my favorite class. Read the chapters and it's an easy A. No attendance (I always went anyway because I liked him so much), no midterm, no final, no participation, lots of extra credit. 11/10

The cutest old man you'll ever see. Obvious he's passionate about the topics. Tries to make things fun and exciting. Read the textbook and you'll do fine on the tests (he gives a huge curve). Requires 200 word paper on each chapter but gives full credit if you put in an ounce of effort. Amazing guy

Very sweet grandpa-like figure, but very, very dull lecturer (and that's about all the class is, aside from videos). Every class he plays some videos that are admittedly amazing and leave you thinking about psychology hours after the class has finished, though. Tests are pretty standard, not hard. Standard amount of homework (mostly reading).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Bowen is awesome. Clear cut on what you need to do, reading the chapters in key to the tests- forget the power points. I have taken 2 of the classes he teaches now and will take him again, he's the best! Lots of E.C. opportunity, no final, no hw- just easy O.E. responses due at each test.

He gives fun grandpa vibes, fantastic if you want a more laid back class if you really want to dive into the material he's not a good choice. Tells you a little bit about a lot of things but it doesn't feel like any of it is super in depth. He's a sweet dude but has some outdated attitudes on things especially as a psychology professor...

AB PSYCH: Nice older corny white guy. Long lectures that are useless in application to the test. READ THE CHAPTERS and you will do great on them. Relaxed lectures, no participation required, shows AMAZING videos. No midterm/final, just 4 tests. No homework, easy extra credit, doesn't count attendance- like I said just read and you'll glide through.

Great teacher. Lectures are not mandatory, but he tells you when tests are in class. There are only four tests, no final or midterm. Only homework is a 200word response to 1 of 5 questions given per chapter. Lectures are relaxed.

Super nice guy. Only 4 tests and are 75 multiple choice questions. 3 chapters per test and lots of material per chapter. Good of you're really into psych. I am not so this class is kind of hard.

Great professor! Brings in funny outside stories from his life to relate to material. You're supposed to read the textbook however I managed a B+ in the class by only using it once or twice. Overall would recommend taking his class!

I absolutely loved Professor Bowen's class! He had us write a paper for each chapter of the text book but it was super easy! There were huge curves (77 equaled and A) His class actually inspired me to major in Psychology!

Had Bowen for developmental psych (his specialty), and while his class is split between a long lecture and a short film at the end, it's always an interesting topic!! He does read directly from the powerpoint but tells great stories from his experience tying in to the subject. Tests are curved greatly (READ THE BOOK!) Also, he is just a sweet prof!

Dr. Bowen is really nice and understanding. His lecture can be a little boring but he tries to make it more interesting and is really open to student feedback about making it less boring. The only thing is that the tests are pretty hard so you need to read the textbook, but the curve in the class I took was wonderful--a 75 on a test gave you an A.
