Comment:

Tests are hard and have trick questions, doesnt always give enough time. Shes a tough grader, gives homework over stuff she didnt teach fully. Extremely monotoned in lectures so its easy to lose your focus. However, she is super sweet and will do whatever she can to help you succeed.

Comment:

For Roth each week you get 2 and a half hours of lectures. Lots of reading, software assignments each week. Tests and homework are more difficult than the problems she goes through in class. All tests are only 50 minutes which is not enough time for what she expects you to complete. She is so monotone which makes it hard to focus during lectures.

Comment:

Professor Roth is a good teacher who really makes the technical material understandable for the average person. The problem with this class is that she doesn't post her lecture material on eLearning - she instead posts only the lecture recording. This makes it very hard to study for her tests if you're not good at taking notes and drawing charts.

Homework is easy if you pay attention to class instructions. Tests are hard and have a lot of trick questions on them. I would recommend studying early and reading the book.

Comment:

Overall very sweet professor, but kind of soft-spoken and monotone. Make sure to check the schedule posted online, we had a homework project due the second day of class, and half of the class didn't do it. Tests aren't horrible, but you need to study. More points on multiple choice tests than in-class coding.

Overall Professor Roth is a very nice person, however, her tests and in class activities can be very difficult and hard to prepare for. She likes to through something new at you on a in class homework assignment that she may have never gone over.

Really hard class.. Unless you have experience with computers before this will not be an easy course. Attempted to study for tests and had no idea what to look at. Lectures were all over the place and hard to take notes on.. Overall would suggest taking another prof.

Professor Roth is incredibly nice and is always there to help explain things. She is a tough grader and sometimes throws curve balls at you on hands-on activities. That's why I selected the difficulty of 4. Overall a great Professor!

Not the most interesting class but Roth does a good job of teaching it by making the concepts easier to understand and providing real world examples. Grades tough on assignments, always seems to find something to take a point off for. Overall a decent professor.

This is a very busy class. Group project usually takes an additional 4 hrs/wk. No tests, but quizzes are difficult. Lot of reading but she posts videos of text material. I found this class overwhelming to balance. However, Roth is very prepared, helpful, and clear. It's not the most interesting material but important for MIS majors to know.

Comment:

Your experience in systems will depend on your group. No tests but chapter quizzes, everything else is group work. Skipping class is not recommended, hard to keep up without seeing her examples. Panopto recordings go over chapter materials. Roth is extremely helpful and well organized. Communicating with her and asking questions is key.

Comment:

Read all the chapters and be there for lectures. You will do a lot of hands on work in class, do not miss or you will fall behind. I am not good with computers, but Dr. Roth is amazing at explaining things and working with you. Take her class, even if you don't have to. She gives tests over the chapters and the hands on work. Great professor!

Test are a little hard but the semester long project isnt bad especially if you have a good team. Her class was decently fun and never got bored from listen to her. POWER POINTS AND BOOK ARE BASICALLY THE SAME - JUST GO TO WILEY and find the PowerPoints SYSTEMS ANALYSIS AND DESIGN

this is not the easiest or most fun for non info systems majors. However it is really valuable, I learned a lot and Roth does a very good job. Do the assignments and study for the tests, go to class and you will do fine. She does a great job making sure students have information needed to succeed on all assignments and tests.

Very useful course that takes a lot of work. The lectures and the book are interesting and very applicable to workplace situations and skills required. Professor Roth does a great job of communicating. Read the book and watch the lectures numerous times. You must be willing to dedicate a few hours a day to this course to get a good grasp.

Comment:

All MIS students are forced to put up with Roth at least twice in their college career. For Business App 2, and System and Design. Bus App 2 isn't bad, but but look at your assignments carefully before submitting, she will always try to find something minimal to mark .5 points off. Her other class will consume your time. You are warned!

Comment:

Sys. Analysis and Design was tough. Do the group project stuff on time, don't get behind. She writes the book, but explains it pretty well. Tests can be difficult, but nothing insurmountable. Don't miss class, and you'll hear everything you need to in lecture. Tough class, but rewarding, and she's a good prof.
