Comment:

Mr. Stamper is a nice guy, but a very hard grader. I strongly suggest going to see him outside of class for review on your papers--even if you are an A student. This was an 8-week class, so we pretty much had papers due every two weeks. While you won't use the textbook a lot, you do need it for the articles that you will have to write about.

While he is a really hard grader, he is very helpful with the amount of time he spends giving feedback on the papers. We did a lot of peer reviewing before submitting our projects which was also beneficial.

I hated that I had to take English but loved taking it with Professor Stamper. He is a tough grader, but so willing to help and he overall makes you a better writer. He is super outgoing and hilarious. He is also very flexible so if you forget to do an assignment or print something he will most likely allow it late. He made English 10x better!

Although this was a challenging class I really enjoyed it. I made an A- in the class, but I had to work hard for it. You have 5 papers in the class and 3 projects which you present in front of the class. You get 7 absences but if you show up and participate your grade will be higher than others. Also he LOVES peer review sessions

Professor Stamper is so much fun to have as a professor for English 101. He is very easy going and doesn't mind wasting a little class time to talk about other stuff. There are 5 papers throughout the semester and two short in-class presentations. The papers are 5-7 pages. If you put in the work, there is no reason to get less than a B in the class

Comment:

Very nice guy. Knows what he is talking about. Can be a tedious class but very beneficial. Usually teaches small classes allowing you to get to know him and he gets to know you. Willing to help whenever you ask and I would highly recommend his his office hours, super helpful!

At times it felt like I showed up for class; for no reason,becasuse he would spend the whole class time talking about something that was irrelevant. There are 5 major papers and then a final paper. This is all you do all semester.The class is pretty useless and easy but he is a bit of a hard grader; all I ever received were B's from him.

I came into this class really dreading having to take a lit class but I ended up loving it! Roy is really funny and he keeps lectures interesting. However, the class was not the easiest so bring him papers before you turn them in to get his comments and make sure you can explain the main issues of each story very well before each exam.

I loved his Major American writers class. Honestly I told everyone to take it. The most important part of class the discussion as long as you pay attention in those you should be fine.

Extremely knowledgeable. Class discussions were always interesting. Assigns papers that are interesting to write. Midterm and Final were tough, but if you keep up with the readings you shouldn't have a problem.

Knows what hes talking about and gets very into the literature. Strict on grading papers, I would go to his office hours and let him look over what you wrote before you turn it in. Nice guy overall, midterm and final make you recognize quotes and talk about them so make sure you do read and it does help to jot notes in class (formal ones not given)

Professor is NOT an easy teacher by any means, but he is damn good at what he does. If you are willing to work he will turn you into an awesome writer. His class has improved my grades in other classes because he TAUGHT me how to write. Great teacher!
