she is a wonderful professor. she is difficult to understand sometimes but she tells you everything that will be on the tests and is very helpful if you come to her politely. she's a genuine person who is very interested in your learning of the material. she's awesome and an easy A.

Very nice lady if you go office hours. Lecture is boring and hard to understand some days. your best bet is to do the study guide and read the chapters and art! she will tell you what's on the test as well as stuff u don't have to know. easy paper at the end. no points awarded if you go to class. points deducted at end if u don't go. GO TO REVIEWS!

Prof. Stanley-Bates was a very good professor. You just have to do your work and memorize the paintings but she pretty much tells you exactly what is going to be on her exams. She has a funny since of humor and i loved that class!

She doesn't teach very well. Half the time she's dazed or confused about what students ask her. I believe she's hard of hearing so it's very difficult to get anything done in class. Notes are extremely hard to take since you have no idea what she's saying half the time. I got a B in the class, I have no idea how. There are better HUM profs for sure

The sad thing about her is that she cannot hear, and cannot teach very well. It sounds like she had a neat past and an interesting time while studying abroad, but did she ever go to school? She is a little paranoid. Just do well on the final paper, which is easy and you will get at least a B

Horrible professor. First test nobody had enough time to finish it....She goes over a lot of unimportant things her class. Class is mandatory and if u miss 3 or more she takes off 5 points off your FINAL grade total. I really disliked her method of teaching. Very monotone and boring. Professors should make subjects like this interesting not boring

She claims that attendance is mandatory, and if you have more than 3 absences that she will remove 5 pts off your final grade. Apparently, she just picks and choses who to apply this rule to. there are a few in class who have only showed for 5 classes, and she told them they are not on her "list". But she will dock a good student in a heat beat!

Prof Bates was a pretty good professor. Her tests are 75% of the grade, so it's important to take really good notes and do her study guides. The tests include multiple choice, an essay, and art identification. Quizzes are (10 total) 10%; Class paper is 15%. Only allows 3 absense. She's a little boring, but you learn a lot. I liked her!

SHE IS WORTHLESS! I enjoy every other class and every other teacher, but bates just makes Humanities tedious and boring. She always gets off subject, and the study guides she hands out have a lot of questions, but you only end up using half of the answers on the test, so you end up wasting most of your time. I COULD NOT STAND GOING TO THIS CLASS! THE TESTS AREN'T BAD BUT SHE TAKES FOREVER TO GRADE THEM. SHE'S ALWAYS WAY OFF TOPIC, TAKES HER FOREVER TO GET THROUGH ONE CHAPTER. SHE'S PRETTY EASY BUT EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING!

horrible lecturer. either she's reading straight from the book (nice use of my time) or she's completely off topic. takes her 2 weeks to get through ONE chapter. didn't complete course material before final. tests are easy, just read your book and fall asleep in class. its what i did.

Intelligent and knows a lot about Italy. Class is interesting if you like art and humanities. She expects the students to know the information, especially on the tests. Tests are not that difficult: multiple choice, t/f, short answer, slide show (you'll see), and essay. I would recommend her class.

She made me feel special when she read my essay in front of the class, even though that upset the rest of the class on the count of my unmatched brilliance. I liked her alot and would recommend her to anyone
