Comment:

Sharon is super kind and approachable. However, I don't believe she was the right professor to teach this class (PHIL 213). Even though it's a general Phil that should cover all branches of Philosophy, she was pretty biased toward Metaphysics and Politics and seemed to lack knowledge and interest in Ethics and Aesthetics.

This class was really hard for me. I felt that the teacher Sharon did not care for some of her students. You don't get that welcome feeling in this class. Very strict and sometimes rude. I didn't see Sharon's class available this semester so she might not be teaching.

Waste of time class for me. This professor talks down to students. If I wanted to join the military, then I think I would have. The way she talks to people is very strict and rude. I would think twice about taking anything from her.

The people who are whiney about how tough this class is are obviously the ones who don't prefer to attend ALL classes and do all the work required. Because if you did, this class would of been easy. I tested into MATH 24 and I passed this class with an ease because I PAID ATTENTION and STUDIED, that's all you have to do to pass really.

This class is definitely the toughest class I've taken at KCC, and I LOVED IT! It challenges your mind and you actually feel like you're in college! (duh) Yeah, I actually ended up loving this class. Sharon is not only very skillful in her area and LOVES Philosophy but she makes this class bearable and you really really really learn!

I really enjoyed my semester of philosophy because of the way she taught it. She would go to each table & sit down, ask questions, made sure students understood what was going on. To me, she was one of the best professors I've ever had. Attendance is VERY important. It's unwise to miss lecture because seeing examples is so much easier to learn.

Very helpful teacher. Very passionate about philosophy. Can literally talk for hours about philosophy and still had my attention. I suffer from extreme ADHD and her class had my attention the entire time. She starts off mean but once you get her flow of things, it gets easier. I'm taking her ballet class next semester, it should be interesting.

Difficult material, but what do you expect its equivalent to MATH 100 for your degree requirement. Material is confusing but if you can get past the fear of asking questions frequently then there should be no problems. Rowe is very passionate about philosophy, and it shows during her lectures. GREAT professor. Except to do work.

She makes you prepare a portfolio of all your assignments. She's inconsiderate about us students. I spent more time in this class than I do on the classes needed for my major. She should just stick to teaching ballet or whatever dance she teaches. She's very friendly, but she is extremely passionate about her philosophy work that it's overwhelming.

This class is quite challenging, but the way she teaches the class helps you to grasp all the concepts pretty easily, as long as you pay attention and come to class regularly. She's nice, knows her stuff, caring, and can sometimes be pretty funny.

ms rowe is an asset to kapiolani community college. i feel that i learned more than i expected in her class.. yes it's a bit tough but what do you expect? it's deductive logic. show up to class, do the homework, find a study buddy and you'll be fine

This class is a lot like geometry. I found the material fun, but 80% of my classmates were drowning. She uses her own textbook, which is cool cuz it's cheap, but sucks, too. Clarity wise, classes that use a "real" textbook are better. That way you'll have two people to explain stuff to you instead of just the person that wrote the book.

She's a very straight forward, intelligent, compassionate, hard working teacher! Teachers with her intellect should desrve a salary much higher than they have!!! She helped many of us who were struggling, and used life-relating concepts. Final is a****ter, be careful study hard and attend class-- It's not easy, but it makes you think logically!
