Take it with Carsten. He's a nice guy, but can't really teach and has a hard time understanding questions. He assigned over 700 questions online for us to do over the course of the semester--on top of written assignments for each section. Just save yourself the time and effort and don't bother. I still have no idea what's going on.

Awful professor. SUNY Cortland was joking when they made me take this class. The man can barely speak English... you can get past his heavy accent, but when he can't even understand a simple question then there's a problem. This man should not be teaching.

Awful. DON'T take a class with him unless you absolutely must. Hard to understand, lectures at the board rather than students, and will judge if you don't go to class (even though he doesn't take formal attendance, he knows if you're there or not). You will fail all his exams. Curves final course grades, but overall an unnecessarily stressful class

He assigns 1,400 problems at the beginning of the semester. You can't understand a word he says, he teaches directly from the textbook. But he does test corrections. I got a 26 on a test and ended up getting a B+. He gives you the resources to BS your way through. My advice - save yourself the bother and don't take him.

Could not understand a word he said. I am already really bad at math. I dropped his class because I had no hope of passing. He gives a lot of homework and teaches from the book. He's a nice guy but I just couldn't sit through his class.

I took TJ's class 3 years ago and I still consider his class to be the worst I've ever had. Did not learn anything, and failed every test by a lot. Still wound up with a B- somehow. Came on here to show my mom how bad and get a laugh.

Language and age barrier between him and the students makes the subject so hard to comprehend. This class is riduclous and is not taught in an acceptable manner, he needs tobe replaced badly.

He is seriously the cutest old Asian man! If you do all of the work and make corrections it's not that bad. People get like 30's on his tests and still wind up with B's or A's in the class. He is hard to understand and also doesn't understand your questions well. If you need this class for a math degree then don't take him, you won't learn anything

STAY AWAY, DO NOT TAKE. I literally got NOTHING out of the class. TJ is impossible to understand. His tests are impossible, every1 in class gets between 0-30% on all tests, but TJ does allow test corrections. I got 30s on all tests and finished with a B. If u want 2 learn math DONT TAKE his class. But if u want a joke of class u may want 2 take him

The class isn't that difficult if you follow along in the book with him during class. For the tests, make sure you don't leave out little details or you won't receive any credit, that is how you get 0s and 10s. He allows corrections which bumps your grade up a lot. Go to class or he calls you out on not being there.

Such a nice man.. But I do not understand him when he talks. He is eager to help but it's not very understandable. Most of the test questions are the book examples and straight off the homework. You have to teach yourself if you want to get over a 10 on a test. There are test corrections and a huge curve.

He is a very cute, nice man, just not very "crear" (clear). I had to teach myself in this class, because he is hard to understand and he basically just copies everything out of the book anyways. The tests are impossible, people go under tens, but you can do test corrections and there is a huge curve at the end of the test.

I would never recommend anyone to take ANY class with him just because it is EXTREMELY hard to understand him, he talks EXTREMELY quietly, and doesn't understand anything you ask of him. If you MUST take a class with him, it's not the end of the world just bc he DOES curve all grades. Did not learn a SINGLE thing from his class.

You won't learn much but will get an A if you go to every class and do your work. Can't really understand him but he is a great little man. Butter him up a little bit and he will factor that into your grade.

if you plan on taking this class, learn chinese. He is the most rude and incomprehensible teacher I have ever had. He speaks into the board which makes hearing him even more of a challenge. "IS KOREA?" = "IS THE CLEAR?" you will be hearing that hundreds of times, and nobody will say yes and he will still go on with his worthless blabbering.
