Let me just get 1 thing straight: Warren Levenson is a fantastic teacher and he has seemingly boundless information to offer not just about the guitar, but also about life in general. If you want to learn to play music, not just through memorization, but through deep understanding, take Warrens courses/lessons. You wont regret it (if u practice).

Comment:

Professor Levenson is an accomplished guitarist and teacher. Throughout the semester he took my playing to the next level by walking me through jazz standards, music theory and improvisation. He is also a great conversationalist, is incredibly knowledgeable about music - and that passion is evident in his teaching! I highly recommend his class!!

Goes over the music terminology way too fast, reluctant to answer questions, not approachable. Unclear about grading, no syllabus provided. By the end of the semester there was five people left in our class, more than half dropped. For an introductory guitar class, the instructor's expectations far exceed what it reasonable.

Prof. Levenson is really nice and really wants to help you learn. He's very passionate, and he plays extremely well. I didn't practice enough, so I didn't get a very good grade. But I did learn the very basic things about guitar.

I took the intermediate and the advanced level. It was really hard for me to understand the music concepts of theory he was teaching since I never had any experience in the past, but I definitely improved my guitar skills a lot. An amazing guitar player and a generous grader. Don't forget to practice the scales too!! I definitely recommend it!

Levenson is hard on you if you don't practice. He takes the class way too seriously when it is only one credit class. He teaches rapidly especially for those like me that never touched a guitar until the class. He teaches well with teh musical concepts, but sometimes the defition is hard to follow if you are not expose to music terminology. PRACTIC

Cool class. Has a lot of improvising which can be cool although sometimes nervewracking. Thought he was an easy grader. Choices of music can be a little boring.

Beginning guitar...but unfortunately while I was a beginner there were students with 6 years experience on the guitar, or were music majors. As you might expect that made the standards high and my grade low, even though i practiced a lot.

Cool guys, usually pretty nice. Class is definitely helpful. I feel like I'm learning a lot. Can go a little fast sometimes, so make sure you keep up with the practice. Fair with the grading, and can tell how much you practice.

amazing guitar player. he can tell how long you practiced just by listening to you. grades fairly, if on the nicer side, and he's an awesome teacher. learned beatles, eric clapton, bach and some blues using about 10-12 chords.
