Comment:
Prof Steger is extremely knowledgeable about a lot and wants you to ask questions. Get comfortable with reading graphs bc he uses a ton in his powerpoints. Cracks jokes and cusses. Partcipate or else hell ramble or put you on the spot, especially if he knows you. Papers are easy if you pay attention in class.

Comment:
Steger was a great professor. I found his feedback on papers to be some of the best I have received in college. He does not use powerpoints often. He kind of just talks at you (which I like). However, it can be hard to follow at times. He taught the only American politics class I took in my degree and I learned a lot.

Comment:
Prof Steger is a "hard" professor in that if you don't work very hard you'll probably fail. The reading isn't bad and if you like politics they're interesting and he knows his stuff. If you want to learn a lot take him, if these kinds of profs scare you keep moving.

Wayne Steger is hands down the best professor I've ever had! In the first half of class, you don't really have any assignments except for weekly readings and for the second half, you have to analyze and critique readings in a short essay (2-5 pages). Show up to class, be ready to participate, go to office hours, and read!

Dr. Steger is clearly passionate about the classes he teaches- if you listen to the lectures, invest yourself in the topic, and put in effort on the papers you will be fine. Honestly, he is one of my favorite professors and this was my favorite class at DePaul so far. Not easy, but totally fun and doesn't feel like work.

Prof. Steger is really passionate about his subject but there aren't many assignments just about three essays throughout the quarter and then a final and a midterm. Lectures are very content heavy so if you miss a day you miss a lot. I learned a lot from him and hope to take him again!

Lots of reading (4 books) with 4-5 papers on the readings. I am not that iinterested in the topic, but lectures were interesting at times and you learn a lot. He can talk for hours about this stuff and knows a ton. Read the books, take notes in class, and it won't be the worst. Compared to other honors courses, he grades easier. no midterm or final

Prof Steger did a very good job explaining what the readings could not. He is also one of the most fair and unbiased teachers I've had at DePaul. He can give a lecture on one topic for close to 40 minutes, but they are very informative. He answers any questions you might have. We had 3 papers on 4 books and some D2L readings. I recommend him!

Only 2 response papers and a final paper for the whole quarter. Since it was a 2 credit class, in class time determined most of my grade.

He is decent but his lectures lack substance and is not thorough enough when you ask Mr. Steger questions. I wish he would teach more instead of indoctrinate students.

Good class if you don't want to go to class. Lots of readings and powerpoint notes but if you study them well and take good notes, you could easily skip a class a week and get an A. Didn't take attendance. Likes to ramble in lectures. Gets most of his exam questions from the book readings.

Biggest down side to Steger is that he's a big mansplainer and rambler. Ask a simple question and he'll go off on a huge tangent. He knows his stuff though and is willing to help you get your best grade possible. If you like the type of class where you can just kick back and listen for an hour and a half, this is a good one for you.

Phenomenal teacher. Awesome dude. Care about students. Approachable. Not exactly easy, and 2 papers make or break your grade. But, you'll learn more about politics and elections in one quarter than you would over a year with other teachers. If you ask a question he'll explain the answer really in depth. Lectures are usually tied to current events.

Reading is essential to passing the class, and there is a ton of it. Be prepared for him to call on you even if you were not willing to participate. Heard other teachers were easier than him so if you can, choose them. Very nice man though.

Great professor. He gives no homework besides reading. His grades are based on 2 mid terms and 1 final, and one partisanship paper. If you don't actively participate and pay attention and read don't expect an A.

He is very engaging, you can tell he has infinite knowledge on the subject he is teaching. Very reachable, on many occasions I did not understand the topic and he was always willing to meet before class; as well as giving us study guides. If you are not political science I recommend you take this class, you will definitely learn a lot from it!

Steger knows what he's talking about. Able to hide his partisanship very well, which makes his opinions a mystery. He has a pretty bad habit of talking over students, which can be frustrating, but stand your ground. You can learn a lot from him. Readings are more of a supplement to the lectures, but he'll call you out sometimes. Would take again.

Steger is amazing. Loads of info and a lot of personal experience with politics. Great lectures, but expects a lot of participation and he'll randomly call on you so do the reading!! Love that you can see the passion he has for what he teaches. If you want to learn something, I'd highly recommend taking him.
