LOVE her! this class is very fun, and you'll meet some wonderful people. don't skip class, there is a lot that happens everyday. stay focused its very fast pace but shes very good about answering questions. expect to study at home a lot, shell throw lots at you but you'll have about two weeks to study and memorize before tests on that subject.

Honestly one of my favorite classes. If you show up everyday and spend 10-30min a night studying, you can easily get a 4.0. I usually study on the bus with flashcards or a flashcard app like quizlet for vocab. Class was always fun and enjoyable. Sometimes you have to record yourself speaking Japanese but it's not as bad as I thought it would be.

She's absolutely amazing, very nice and by FAR my favorite teacher! She's very good at teaching and always has little things she says to help us remember words / characters. Showing up is mandatory, if you miss 5 classes you get an automatic F. She often tells stories that are funny and make the class feel not so uptight. 100/10

Shes a really caring person but could improve on certain aspects. Shes really picky about attendance which kinda sucks all her classes are early in the day and things happen.

The layout of the quarter is very clear, but she will throw things in there that aren't in the course, such as extra handouts and such, some of it will be graded some not. I think Yasuka is quite funny and gets her students interested in in her lessons. It's a tough course and you really need to review from your previous course before this.

Comment:

Sensei's lectures are, without fail, interesting; providing cultural insight in addition to learning the language. While some parts were tough, I usually knew what to expect. (Quiz on Friday, new kanji each week, etc.) The textbook was more of a printout, which my wallet was grateful for. Just don't miss too many days, or you'll fall way behind. :3

Yasuka sensei is a great teacher with a great attitude! You don't have to worry about buying books in her class. She's very realistic and willing to work with you to ensure you pass. She makes learning the language fun. Highly recommend. She does have a strong Japanese accent but you will get used to it.

She's always tells funny stories and she definitely tries to help you with your work. Don't skip out on class, it'll affect your grade. Just like with learning any language, it can be hard. So make good use out going to the tutoring center!! For every weekly test the class had, she had the class watch Japanese dramas, it was awesome! She's sweet!!

Very clear. Always willing to answer questions. If you do all the homework and review sheets, a B is practically guaranteed. Funny teacher. Clear grading. You always know what's going to be on the weekly Friday quiz. Probably the most fun language class on campus.

Comment:

Japanese is a hard language on it's own, this combined with a lack of help creates for a very difficult course. Yasuka Huff provides a very difficult class by forcing students to learn quick or go home. Students have to learn not one but two new alphabets in the course of 12 weeks. with.

Yasuka is an excellent teacher. Though she sometimes has problems with English that can make it hard to understand her directions, overall her English is excellent and her directions are clear. She's helpful and funny and always willing to help out students who need it. One of the best teachers at SFCC, hands down.

Hilarious, fun, helpful. Her assistant was also very funny and helpful. Awesome class. I knew most of the material from prior self teaching, but it was fun anyway. Will be taking the next level, too. She has a small accent, which can make her difficult to understand in the beginning, but you get used to it very quickly. No Textbook. Favorite class.

Amazing teacher. She is so fun to be around. I'm currently getting a Japanese Trasfer degree and I'm so glad I choose this school because of her. Extreemly helpful and no textbook is requied- she gives you a handhout. She makes it fun- basicly grade school all over again. Join the clubs she advises if you get the chance!

Awesome class & teacher. Yasuka creates a fun learning atmosphere. She is approachable and always willing to help. Tests are fair, what you study in class is what is on test and she makes sure everyone is well prepared for quizzes, midterms and finals.

Comment:

All of the classes I have taken with her were extremely easy. Just do the work, the quizzes are basically kindergarten in another language. She gives you crayons with your finals so that you can color in the pictures. Easy teacher, though rather cold and unhelpful. If you are reliant upon other people to get through a class don't take her.
