Comment:

AMAZING! LOVE HER SO SO MUCH! Absolutely take her! Lectures can get a little bit boring, but she always tries her best to make them more interesting! She's the sweetest woman I have ever met. Midterm and final are structured similarly so not too hard. A very little amount of quizzes, maybe only 1-3 or something like that.

Comment:

I was very lucky to have professor Sun my first semester. She was very passionate about the topic of East Asian history, and was extremely helpful during office hours and such; she really cared about her students. Also, you must do the assigned reading to get a good grade on the exams!!

Comment:

Professor Sun is very acknowledgeable; she really loves history, and it shows. However, her classes are very lecture heavy, so be ready to write plenty of notes. She posts her lectures online, but I HIGHLY recommend against missing because her PPT is no where near as thorough. If you frequently skip, there is a high possibility of failing.

Comment:

Did well on every assignment but still ended up with a not so great grade. Put in an immense amount of effort but the class was very hard to manage. It was only once a week so she tried to cram. Only had a couple assignments and quizzes in which she grades tough and then a midterm and final. Very hard and though passionate is extremely boring.

Remarkably emotional person (not in a good way) and very outspoken on topics she doesn't know/have business discussing. I got the best grade on multiple tests among a few friends and, despite thinking the tests were easy and I knew the material thoroughly, received a lot of poor grades. The class isn't difficult but she makes it so artificially.

Such an amazing and caring professor. She has been teaching for years and is not at all jaded from it. Incredibly helpful and just an overall great professor. Cares about her students and does everything she can to help them succeed. Homework's easy and exams come with an incredibly detailed study guide. Definitely take her if you can !!

She is one of my favorite professor at USD. Her teaching style makes us interested in the topic. She is also extremely passionate about her students, so she is always there to help out with anything! Also! She brings snacks and coffee to class and gives us a 5 minutes if needed! She is the sweetest.

Do not be surprised if you find yourself falling asleep in Yi Sun's class. They are pretty boring and slow. The material covered is confusing because she often skips from one topic to the other. Her slides are almost impossible to study but her test guides are clear and precise; they were the only reason I passed this class.

Yi Sun is one of the nicest women you will ever meet! If you let her know that you want to do well in her class she will help you in any way possible. There are about 6 books that you have to read for the semester, but she never makes you read the whole thing. in the beginning of the semester she lets the students pick what they want to learn abt

Took Dr. Sun for team taught class last fall. she is super organized in lecture and very nice. has high expectations but is willing to help. would recommend taking her. this class itself was particularly difficult.

Professor Sun is sweet, funny, and motherly. She often brings us treats at the beginning of class like donuts or cookies. She really cares about us as individuals and wants us to succeed. She is my favorite professor, highly recommend taking her!!

Sun Yi (the actual way to say her name, not Yi Sun) is a very nice and friendly professor and she enjoyes what she teaches. However, what she teaches is only the basic concepts over slides and then she expects you to learn all the in-depth portion of the material on your own from the poorly written, badly organized textbook so be careful

Nice and intelligent lady, but she 'changed her mind' and augmented the syllabus without informing the class, which affected our grades. After receiving a low score on my mid-term, she informed me that my paper had fewer pages than another student?s and that was the basis for my grade. Yet, NO parameters were given for this mid-term (no min or max)

Professor Sun has probably been one of my favorite professors so far. She makes her class very interesting, even for non hist. majors. Very knowledgable in her field. Very willing to help students. Great sense of humor and very sweet. Even brought Roses donuts for us! Recommended for a GE course hands down.

She's a really hard grader but interesting and very knowledgeable. I wouldn't recommend her class for a GPA booster, but you will learn a lot and she's a nice person.
