Not a good professor to be teaching a language class. Has no sense of direction in the lesson. You could only decipher what he is trying to teach before he goes off tangent again. There is a textbook for a reason, but he doesn't follow it and teaches vocab in one chapter, while grammar in another. This makes it harder for us to study afterwards.

Very nice and caring professor, but homework every class which should be expected in a language since it's a good way to practice. You need to put in the effort of learning all the kana but after that, the class becomes simpler. I'm not the best a memorization but even I got an A in the class.I would definitely take his class again.

Great professor! Although he gives hw every night, they were not hard at all. But you do need the textbook and workbook as the HW is usually copy the words 5 times each and make sentences. Class goes really fast and if you miss one class, you are done for. Super sweet though and I've seen him curve grades for people who really do try.

Homework every night, expects you to fluently understand both Japanese alphabets and know their characters within the first three weeks while also learning vocabulary and forming sentences. Tests must be written in full Japanese kana so you better hope you are a genius and can remember the characters perfectly. Extremely thick accent.

He has a very heavy accent which people seem to love complaining about but he was a great teacher. For every question I asked about the language, he tried his best to answer and he would take time after class to help me when I needed it. All you gotta do is pay attention and you're good.

Class was an easy A but I did not learn much. Take him if you don't care much about world history and want an easy A. But if you really want to learn about world history, take another professor. He was cool though

Once you can decypher his thick accent the class becomes both far easier and enjoyable. He asks lots of questions, so it's best to review your notes, but exams are simple and tend to be open book. He's a very lenient grader.

he can't speak english all that well and his hand writing is even worse. He tries to help everyone but his1000c is a bonehead class anyway. if he could get a little better with his english he would be the perfect teacher.
