Exams are challenging, but definitely doable. This is the type of class that you get out what you put into it; if you put forth the effort and really grasp the concepts, you will do fine. I think the better question you should be asking yourself is: Am I paying $50,000 to get an easy A or to actually learn something that will carry on?

Took FA with him a couple of years ago. Taking his class at 8am is not recommended if you're not a morning person. He definitely knows his stuff and his tests are very difficult. However, he's very unsympathetic to students with extenuating circumstances.

Comment:

Prof. Hipscher's tests made me want to cry, that's how hard they were (and I'm an Accounting major). You have to put 110% effort into his class and study your BUTT off, but it is a very rewarding feeling at the end because you do learn a LOT from him. He manages to keep the class awake at 8am which is always a plus!

Mr. Hipscher is a very smart man, but you should only take his class if you like the subject. He is incredibly patient and will explain things in detail if you question him, but he has very little tolerance for people who have little interest in the subject he is teaching. His exams are hard, but the course is worth it if you want to learn.

He's a great teacher - very patient and accessible and organized. can answer just about any question you have. and this guy makes accounting fun because he's hilarious. But he gives lots of quizzes and hw, and hard exams. Not for the lazy.

He is my absolute favorite professor. Extremely helpful outside of class, funny, and responds quickly to emails. He's very open to students and wants them to do well. I don't know why everyone finds him intimidating. He's approachable and very willing to help.

He's a great professor. His exams are fair - but very long. I had him for both FA and FSA and learned a lot. While I did not do the best, he does teach you to understand the material. Ask yourself "is college a time for me to get a grade or learn?" If learn is your answer, take him. Also if you are an accounting major - he has MAJOR connections.

He is a very controlling man..his favorite quote is that "I dont have control at home, so I need to have control in my class.." but I seriously doubt the first part also (not joking). don't try to question his decision at all, even it does not make sense, because he is just too old and should have retired years ago.

MOST TERRIBLE PROF you can find at Stern! I went to his office to ask for help. He threatened me to leave the office, else he was "going to call the security guard". He spent half of the class joking about his wife and his son. So you don't learn much from his lectures and the textbook is your best friend..I really regretted of taking him now.

DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!! He is the most rediculous professor!! He totally ignored my email about my grade, so I went to his office. He was extremely impatient and rude. Just because I didn't do as well in the exam, he laughed at me about my thoughts of getting a CPA. He kicked me out because "he was busy". He doesn't care about students at all.

Hipscher is tough, and his exams are nearly impossible, but he's a really genuine person. In class, he puts on this intimidating persona, but you shouldn't be scared to ask questions. Going to his office hours was incredibly helpful. He's a guy who takes a real interest in his students and wants them to do well.

He is condescending and intimidating. His sense of humor is rude, but keeps you awake. Tests are fair, but you need to study. His grading policy sucks. He does not create a comfortable environment and he does not go out of his way to help students. Many students were scared to ask questions. He moves quickly in lecture. He is way over-rated.

I really like Hipscher because he's a great prof- he's difficult, sure, but if you do the work and you pay attention, you will get it. He makes accounting as exciting as it can be.
