Comment:
Don't hate. Yes, Andrea is occasionally disorganized. She is, however, my favorite professor. I have spent all 4 years at New with Andrea as my contract sponsor, and she has helped me formulate ideas for almost every class I have taken. Even with all of her idiosyncrasies, she is undoubtedly one of the best resources we have at NC.

Consistently late to class. Frequently sent our email the morning before class. Will forget that you have appointments with her. Anything you want to gain from the class will be of your own accord. She's has the capacity for brilliance, but it is often overshadowed by very poor execution.

Andrea Dimino was late to every class and rarely stuck to a lesson plan, if she even had one prepared. She would often email us the assignments at 4:00 a.m. the morning of class. She has some interesting thoughts on her subject and is approachable enough, but she doesn't complete evaluations and has an endless number of excuses.

Comment:
Andrea is a teacher. I agree that she appears to be clinically depressed, but that should have no bearing on her teaching. Her classes are completely unorganized and she has never completed an evaluation. It is embarrassing. No New College student with as poor work ethic as Dimino could ever pass school.

Brilliant, thoughtful, critical. Knows her material deeply. Wants you to dig. A total intellectual powerhouse. Funny and responsible.

Comment:
She arrives late every class and lectures for almost the entire period. As others have said, this is rather disappointing in a discussion-based curriculum. Her evaluations are somewhat vague. She has a great sense of deadpan humor and is a really nice lady, but to admit, my high hopes for her class fell flat.

Had about 7 classes with her. Knew her material and didn't spoonfeed analysis and pontifications to the students as some might want. Most critical and well-considered analysis of my work at NC. Provocative questioner.

Dimino is the worst prof I had in my undergraduate years. She regurgitates "academic" opinions from the graduate level and seems very depressed personally. I love lit and hated her class.

Comment:
Had her for two or three classes years ago, and I agree that her classes were dullish and that she wasn't usually excited about students' work. BUT. Being a cheerleader isn't everything. If you go to grad school, you'll find that her evaluations are decent predictors of your grad profs' opinions of your stuff. Also, she's pretty nice.

Smart lady, but not very inspiring. I prefer the mini-lectures to discussion in her classes. Even though she chooses thought provoking material, her seminars always fall flat. I wouldn't recommend her unless you're obsessed with Faulkner. Don't worry if you're tardy, she's sure to get there after you!

Dimino is always late. Her classes, despite the fact that they start late, are filled with akward pauses and limited discussion. Also, Dimino gives the harshest evaluations. That is, is she fishes them. I suggest Wallace.

Great material and insight in Andrea's classes, but she is not good at all when it comes to leading discussions. Definitely a weak point in a school as discussion oriented as NCF.

Brilliant critical mind. Understand education deeply. Intimidating to some at first but very invested in the content of the course and the students thoughts/arguments. Top quality!
