Really great teacher, I learned more from her class than any other class I have taken. She really cares about her students and wants them to pass. However, she takes a very long time to grade assignments so its hard to know where you stand, grade-wise. She also does not respond to emails. All in all, there are flaws but I really loved her class.

Dr. Stearns was a nice woman, she could be passive aggressive sometimes. She was very hard to reach out of class and would sometimes never email me back. She likes to lecture ALOT, class would be boring often. I took her class on zoom and she would constantly pressure people to turn on their cameras. Attendance was mandatory. Inconsistent teaching

Dr. Stearns is very sweet and you can really learn a lot from her class. Not many assignments just lectures. Dont miss class! But she is terrible when it comes to grading I have never seen any of my grades in blackboard for her class. She also never responds to emails, Ive emailed her many times through the semester and never got responses.

Doctor Stearns is truly intelligent and I learned a lot. You can't mess around in class and she expects participation. She uses a lot of different techniques: lectures, movies, ted talks, powerpoints, etc. Be prepared to take notes because the midterm and final are open notes and textbook, but there are no other tests or quizzes.

I had Professor Stearns twice for two different classes. She is great!!! She very knowledgeable about what she is teaching and is great with passing her knowledge to her students. often times, professor stearns take awhile to grade her assignments, but i guess that is the process of grading assignments thoroughly. She did an amazing job teaching

No reason not to pass this class w/ an A. All tests are open note. We only used the book twice (for graded papers). There's 5 assignments in total, including one for participation. Just show up to class, stay awake and take good notes. She is a very sweet and nice elderly lady, but be aware topics are interesting, lectures are boring and drawn out.

Pretty dry classes. She likes to hand out news articles in her class on topics not related to the books. Open note midterm and final but still pretty extensive. She likes to talk about herself a lot, but then again shes pretty knowledgeable. Id recommend for Psych 103.

Does not explain any big assignments given, they are just handed to you and graded afterwards. Class is interesting but only 2 tests and 2 assignments given in the entire semester. very stressful. no questions can be asked during the lecture, only she can speak. takes a long time grading things and does not post on blackboard or answer messages.

I like Dr,Stearns but a lot of the lectures somehow become about her and her two adoptive daughters. She knows her stuff I will agree, but she can be very rude. She wants students to leave phones on the desk if they leave the classroom. Her exams are two days long and she doesn't use blackboard or the textbooks. Never lets students out on time.

I would never take her class again it was to the point I didn't care if I passed or failed the class . I wouldn't mind taking the class over with someone else. She was horrible and talked about herself a lot and was a very hard grader.

Dr. Stearns is an AMAZING professor! She does not teach from the book whatsoever, so RENT one. Unique teaching style. She uses up-to-date research incl some of her own into her lectures. She ties everyday life experiences into the human development process. I learned A LOT. She can be snappy af, and sometimes rude, BUT her class is so worth it.

Talks about herself way too much. All about her accomplishments. Won't let you ask questions even when raising hand. Cell phone off or you are marked absent. If you want to be treated as a kindergartner take her class if you want to be respected as a college student steer clear of her I hated paying $500 to learn about her. I got an A

she was very challenging but she knew her stuff when it comes to abnormal psyc. I really enjoyed her lectures but be ready to take a lot of note but don't not worry she tells you what to write down so when you take her midterm or final its all open note so that being said don't miss any classes or your in trouble. I would take her class again.

She was an amazing professor. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about psychology! Took 2 classes with her, so I highly recommend her. Her style of teaching makes sense. The only thing I would note is that her exams are hard. But you can use your notes from class (which you end up with a lot) to use on your exams.

LOVE DR. STEARNS! Very helpful, and will stay later/answer emails if you have any questions. The class was very interesting, she is a great motivational speaker. You will learn a lot from this teacher (life experiences) You would have to take tons of notes that you'll be needing for open notes exam. Tons of homework but she gives you enough time!

I have taken two classes with her and plan to take my third this spring. She is a brilliant teacher. Be prepared to take a lot of notes which will be of use on your open note tests that are lengthy. If you come to class prepared and pay attention you will have a great appreciation for this brilliant professor.

The students who had her for previous classes and rated her one of the worst professors are obviously the needy hold my hands type. Yes her tests are very detailed, difficult and lengthy with that said they are always open note so if you take good notes and pay attention in class you retain and learn more than any other psychology class. I love her
