Comment:

She was scheduled to co - teach PIMA 703. It took her three weeks in to the semester to let the class know that she wasn't going to do it. This was one of the most irresponsible acts I encountered in my whole student career. She had no excuse for it, other than she had been "out of the country".

Had her for two classes - documentary production and documentary study. If you don't mind doing the work on time then your fine. shes not the toughest grader, plan plan plan ahead. She is like a hawk always knows when your in class or if you leave early. Never misses a thing.

If you are interested in making, or just appreciating, do****entary films this is the class for you. Prof. Danto will help you to focus on how to make a strong film through her class discussions and insightful comments. She shows and recommends a wonderful collection of films.

Prof. Danto is a wonderful teacher, but you have to do your share of the work. In my experience, she was very understanding of students' situations. She's a very humane teacher, and not just a textbook robot like some others. If you have a true desire to learn, and are not afraid to talk with teachers, than you will do well. Just show up on time!

i had the best time @ school when i took the do****entary class in this past spring 2007. There are so many things i can say...one of them is the reason why i enjoyed the class so much was because she is really flexible and understandable. there should be more teacher like her out there!!!

Danto is the only professor I took for 3 different classes. She is very understanding and offers advice readily. She makes herself available outside of class to discuss any issue. I have a new outlook on do****entaries because of the way the class was presented; docs can be mad fun too! I would recommend Danto anyday, she is an awesome professor.

Comment:

India Abroad is a great opportunity to see India(Delhi, Chennai, Grandhigram, Madurai) and study at the amazing Prasad Film Academy. Prof Danto sets up amazing lectures-even one by Butalia, author of the text. The Meenakshi Temple and making a video on India dance were my highlights.

I've had the most amazing experience with Danto's India program. Even as a non-film student, I fully participated and felt productive in the film work. And the program is great for trully experiencing India; everything from train rides to being blessed by an elephant at a Hindu temple. We even had time to plan our own little side trips.

Wonderful experience to study film in India. Nice mix of lecture, film experience and sightseeing. A lot packed into 21 day 3 credit course. Plan to stay after course to see more independently of India.

Miss Annette is a fabulous person among other things regarding her professional career as a filmmaker and professor. Very professional in both endeavors. If you take your project seriously and actually have passion for what you are trying to achieve, then she will back you up one hundred percent! Take one of her classes, and you won't regret...

If you take film seriously and you take your qualifying film seriously then this is the professor for you. She will take your work as serious as you do, will help and guide you through the most important and stressful production of your college years. She will not tell you how to direct your film, but she will give you an advice and support you.

I took 4 film classes, which are sound, doc, qualifying prod and post, with Prof.Danto since Fall 2005. She is a A++ professor, that's all I can said. She is a very supportive person in many ways. I can never graduate without her help and advices. She has this great passion in filmmaking that influences me alot. Definitely first choice for you!!!
