I love Dr. Carroll so much. His class really helped me view life in a different light, and see sports from a different angle. He's so nice and a really fun professor. He seems like he's cold but once you have him in class, you'll love him and how he teaches. 11/10 would take again.

Comment:

There is no denying Dr. Carroll is incredibly intelligent and passionate about education, but like others said he is extremely pretentious and not shy about putting his students down. His instructions are always vague but hes a really hard grader. Comes off as unapproachable because he tends to talk down to you when answering questions.

Comment:

Dr. Carroll is a nice professor, and the class content was super informative, but disorganized. Notes are difficult, since theres not really a set structure to the classes. Grading criteria is pretty vague, but hes a fair grader. If you show up and put effort into the projects its pretty straightforward. Tip: Library magazine section is helpful!

Possibly the worst professor I've had at this school. In addition to making jokes about students in the class, he only had a few grades in the class, and when the grading scale is not clear, it can be quite hard to do well. Although I made a good grade in the class, it was extremely difficult to do when he doesn't give clear grading policies.

Dr. Carroll is an extremely intelligent man-- and he knows it, he's pretty pretentious. He doesn't know how to teach freshman/newbies. This was an intro course and the entire class was struggling to understand his expectations. It was like he expected us to have already known the material (again, intro level class!) and didn't exactly instruct us

Dr. Carroll obviously knew the material very well and he did a decent job of conveying this knowledge to the class. However, I found him to be very pretentious and unapproachable to talk to in the classroom which subsequently created an environment that was not conducive to learning.

Our final paper was what our thought on the class were, what grade we think we deserved and why. If you explained why you deserved a C, that's what you got. If you explained why you deserved an A, that's what you got. We didn't realize he would give us wha we wanted when writing it, but at the end the grades on quizzes, papers, etc. were moot.

Holy crap. You couldn't ask for a more sincere professor. He has a unique style of teaching, and foruses more on your ability to learn than your ability to get a good grade on assignments. I hope he stays at Berry for a long time.

His tests were a bit difficult, but he is more than willing to work with you outside of class if you need help. If you need help, go see him. Also, he is very fair and willing to listen to students' suggestions. If you have a problem, he will compromise if at all possible.

Very good professor. He is very funny, and makes class awesome. I found his class to be very easy, I just read the book before tests, listened in class, and I did fine. I would highly reccomend him if you are going to take mass com and society.

Super great teacher. Always gives 110%! This is school (and this major) are really lucky to have teachers like him... Well, I say that now... Ask me after I finish Com Law with him...:) He's a great guy and an awesome teacher. Highly recommended.

Replaced Bailey as My Favorite teacher at this school. Brings in guest speakers (News Editor for Rome News, News Editor for AJC). Funny family man. Great to talk to in his office. Very knowledgeable with real world experience.
