I loved her! History is not my thing but her enthusiasm is contagious. She assigns a lot of work and expects participation, but everything is told up front. She is structured but understanding, and will always help when needed.

Carla is a good person. Most of the class is conveyed through lectures and reading, but Carla has the ability to pass her obvious excitement for the subject to the students. The class was very interesting and I felt I could have learned more effectively, however, I had a good time and would recommend her as a teacher.

Dr. Bittel was a very nice woman and she meant well, but her class was reeeally boring at times. She made us buy 4 textbooks, assigned a lot of readings, and grading wasn't generous. Participation is mandatory, but what's nice is that u don't actually have to do all the readings to participate, just get a general idea. Overall, wouldn't take again.

Took her health history class. She is a bad upper division teacher. She treats juniors and seniors like kids and makes you do reading assignments every week that take around 6 hours with multiple page responses but its only worth 5% of your total grade. She is extremely controlling often times not letting people go to the bathroom.

Professor Bittel is a lot more interested in her own work than teaching students. Her paper prompts are unclear and frustrating. I don't have a problem with challenging teachers or hard graders but she isn't constructive and is a really harsh grader based upon small facets. The class is more an exercise in patience than any actual learning.

Assigns a lot of readings, but that's how every history class is. There are only two papers, midterm and final. Homework counts as a part of the grade and participation matters. Nevertheless, she is super nice and sweet and is willing to help you with anything. Doesn't post lectures online, but they are not hard to follow.

Dr. Bittel is extremely knowledgeable in the worlds of science and history. Her class is primarily lecture based with opportunity for discussion after lecture - participation is graded, so try to speak up. She is always available for office hours. Her instructions are clear & she gives great feedback. No group projects, yay! I would recommend her!

Bittel is a super sweet lady who genuinely cares about her students. She's really quirky and will tell tons of low-key hilarious jokes. She gives a pretty solid amount of papers, but grades them pretty easily and gives really helpful feedback. Attendance is mandatory and everyone I have talked to gets a B so expect them same.

Very into her subject so at least she makes you happy to learn about it. Pretty hard grader though and her study guides for the midterm and final are very expansive. So study A LOT. I would recommend her though, especially if you life history.

It made me happy that this teacher was passionate about the subject. However, I was not interested in history before taking and I was not interested after either. Her lectures were very clear, which made it a lot easier to study. However, there is no study guide or suggested terms before the tests. You are expected to know every single thing taught

Great teacher. She loves the subject and wants students to learn. The lectures are very structured and there are outlines available for every one. A lot of reading. No tests so the midterm and final are worth a lot but she gives study questions which help a lot. one paper. Overall: great class.

Dr. Bittel is a sweetheart and is very passionate about what she teaches. She got upset when we were packing up early because she was so into the lecture. Only a few worksheets, one paper, one midterm, and one final. We watched good films too. She may stumble a bit but the info is interesting. Tons of extra credit options. Loved the class.

She is very knowledgeable about everything that she teaches. Nice lady. Hard grader. She expects you to know everything for the midterm and final and will not narrow down the material for you. Class was okay. Harder than I thought and I worked pretty hard.

She's very nice. The class is interesting, but I found her grading to be difficult. I thought I had done A work on my midterm, but I got a B. Attendance is important, I didn't ever do any of the many many readings and still did okay.

Super sweet. Very helpful on essays and test preparation. Lessons are clear and very interesting. She loves the subject and will do anything to help you. She tends to say um a lot and repeat the same thing twice, but if I could handle it so can you! Great class though. Not hard to get an A. Midterm, final, one paper. Take this class.
